Holy f***.
10 seconds left, and UConn has a chance to win.

Clark has to take last shot. Tough turnover.

Terrible, terrible, terrible "offensive foul" call. Eh, it was close. Don't throw that chicken wing out there and it's not an issue. She gave the refs a reason.

Terrible, terrible, terrible "offensive foul" call. Eh, it was close. Don't throw that chicken wing out there and it's not an issue. She gave the refs a reason. As a referee, you had to be hunting for that call to make it in such a situation without hesitation. First and secondary responsibilities in that scenario are 1) ball handler and defender and 2) the clock. While indeed still in the primary zone of the calling official [the trail], as on off-the-ball whistle the baseline official [the lead] has first eyes and right to pass on the call. He did. Unless this crew has an established chemistry AND works unconventionally or discussed points of emphasis for this individual game - like illegal screens - via scouting reports or through plays that developed as the game wore on... someone has some explaining to do. Typically, big time referees like this have quite the egos. (I've been a basketball official for 20 years.)

Typically, big time referees like this have quite the egos. (I've been a basketball official for 20 years.) The call is on the primary defender on the play. The baseline official literally cannot see the contact, the sideline ref is closer and has a better vantage point of if the screen is legal or not.

Yeah, that’s a tough call in that situation. Let’s be honest, stars matter. And Caitlin Clark is THE star. But I think South Carolina would/will dust either team. So it probably doesn’t matter, in the end.

Sadly, Butler Blue III, also know as Tripp, has passed away at the age of 12. 2011-2024

The only way to beat UCONN is to shoot the lights out from 3. So far so good for Bama.
