So we are coming up on a year since he won the title and while the beginning was kind of slow, he’s really picked it up and is the hottest thing in the company right now. When does MJF lose the title though? And to who? Heel Adam Cole would be a good choice but it’s gonna be a while till he returns. If Wardlow can heat up then maybe him? Swerve is a good choice too. If MJF swerves us and turns heel, then I think Hangman would be the best choice

Beat Jay White, beat Wardlow, drop to Swerve. Don't know the exact timeline, but that's how I'd book the next three challengers.

Swerve on the first big show of 2024 (Revolution?). After a year+ reign MJF faces a gauntlet of heavy hitters (White, Joe, Wardlow, Omega, maybe Strong to keep the Cole stuff fresh during the injury), but it all keeps taking its toll on him until Swerve cleans the bones with help from Nana. Then Max can continue the Cole stuff or transition to his bidding war of 2024 schtick free of the belt.

I can see Swerve taking advantage of the fact that MJF has Jay White, Wardlow and Joe gunning for him and then swoops in and snatches the belt

Swerve feels like the right guy. Now, would I complain if it was someone surprising like Miro? Definitely not, but Swerve just feels like the man in the position to do it and who would be the biggest statement.

I feel like it should be Swerve, but I don't think it's happening until Revolution

100% Swerve. The man is on deck.
And give me a full on feud please. I want MJF to face off with a legit psychopathic character he just can't out-evil.

Literally anyone in the running right now seems like an infinitely better pick than Wardlow.
But it should be Swerve.

Adding my name to the 'it's gotta be Swerve' discourse

I wouldn't mind seeing Swerve get the title, he's come a long way in the last year or so.

Rumors still seem to be a PPV at the end of December so I'm guessing beat Switchblade at Full Gear, beat Wardlow at Winter is Coming, then drop the belt to Swerve in December and take time off

Before the injury I would have said Adam Cole, but now it's a bit harder to predict. The fact that "first Black world champion" was repeated during the Swerve/Hangman feud probably suggests Swerve is a realistic candidate, but he needs a decisive winning feud at this point. Character-wise he's there, but he needs a credibility boosting win before going for the world title.

Switchblade is tempting, but it needs to be Swerve.

I have not enjoyed this run really at all unfortunately so I hope whoever it is is soon.
Felt like it was Wednesday Night MJF with like 5 different angles going on around him.
It's clear we are not getting Danielson even though many have wanted it so....
I am also not a fan of Jay White (see the signing thread) but atleast it would make for interesting TV having them run roughshod a bit.

The main problem is that AEW has such an embarassment of riches. In the next year I really want to see Bryan Danielson get one last title run. Even if it's just for a month or two. Miro really needs a title run where he destroys everybody. AEW hasn't had a "monster" champion yet. Seems like big guys are suddenly getting pushed as of the last month or so, as well. And then you've got Adam Cole who will almost definitely be feuding with MJF when he's back. So a Swerve/MJF feud is something they need to do for sure. Swerve winning, though? Not sure about that. Unless they decide that MJF vs Cole doesn't need the title.

I want the Devil Mask to inexplicably be Jeff Jarrett so much now, and for us to get a "Devil Jarrett" character, which is just regular Jarrett but slightly pettier than normal (littering in the locker room, using mildly harsher language, etc.)
