As this short period came and went and with Edge gone now, they probably won't acknowledge this era as much anymore.
Does anyone think Edge had potential as this cult like leader? Would Dom have worked as good in the JD with Edge as leader?
Maybe this leads to a supernatural feud with a New Wyatt family and Bray. Edge vs. Bray could've been a good brawl.
Thoughts on this relatively short era of the JD?

Seeing Edge go out there and do Castlevania Shit every week was pure agony, and the best thing the group ever did was kick him out. The second best thing the group ever did was convince Dominik Mysterio to yambag him.

I feel like Edge was too old to fit in with the rest of the crew. I know Finn and Damien are significantly older than Dom and Rhea, but they just fit in better

I think that it could have potentially worked, but that it was certainly not working as it was done. Pivoting to Finn as leader was a good move, and turning Dom even better.

It could have worked...IF they actually chose to be what they are now from the start which is basically your local goth bullys.
But it was pushing into trying to be legit spoopy and that was never going to work in modern WWE and WWE was never gonna go the effort into even trying to make that work

Not to mention that Edge is a HOFamer who the crowd was going to have a tough time booing in the long run at least.

The nice part about early JD is that it gave Rhea and Priest some needed space, after Priest's ill-fated 'Damien Side' gimmick and Rhea being used as a tag wrestler for a few months. Otherwise, I think getting rid of Edge was the right move, though there are some contingencies there. They get spared a few weeks of 'spooky' booking due to Rhea getting hurt, which in turn meant that her MITB match (where she would have lost to Bianca) never happened, and by the time she was back, Triple H was in charge and the group started changing almost immediately from there, even before Dom joined.
This is from the first Raw after Vince stepped down:

Edge: I am the iconoclast. The omnipotent one. The lord of Judgment. Also Edge: YOU'RE THE TYPE OF PEOPLE THAT WOULD CHEER FOR A LOUSY PROGRAM LIKE THE TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS

Both dudes could be 70 and make it work, it's just the right 4 people with the right complimenting personalities.

From what i read he wanted it to go in a different direction than where they took it with him. Plus they weren't happy with the reactions it was getting. Grain of salt with that of course.
If true then hard to say. If it went how he wanted then maybe it would have been good but the Judgement Day we got has been far better than the Edge version we got.

Also Edge: YOU'RE THE TYPE OF PEOPLE THAT WOULD CHEER FOR A LOUSY PROGRAM LIKE THE TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS It is funny how clunky some early JD dialogue was. Hell, Rhea's first promo in the group has her complaining about 'fans' selling autographs on eBay. Though it is fun hearing some of their later promos and how they started making fun of things like the 'mountain of omnipotence'.

It was wonky and I didn't like it at all.
Their current presentation has worked much better for the last year or so.

I think Edge could've made it work if he stuck as leader when Triple H took over WWE creative. Because it was more Vince's removal from creative that made JD start to work.

Edge ..I just do t think he knew what he wanted to be. Supernatural. Srs heel. He had that problem during his run, trying to walk that line and I don’t think it worked.

He walks, looks, and wrestles like someone 10 to 15 years younger than he is.
