The 'E put the match on their Youtube channel.
I have absolutely no idea how anyone can say it was booked right. For starters, a match involving a Face Champion should never be shorter than one of the in-ring introductions, bell to bell the match lasted nine seconds.
That would have been bad enough, but the way that Kofi actually lost made it even worse, he practically jumped onto the shoulders of Brock for the F5. Short of laying down on the mat or short of turning his back on Lesnar while he had one hand behind it and shouting at the top of his voice "PUT ME IN THE KIMURA!", it's hard to imagine Kofi making it any easier for Beastie Boy.
And that leads on to how the finish made Brock look. It didn't make him look any more badass, it made him look like a dude who got lucky when his opponent made a rookie mistake. It's like saying Karim Benzema looked like an even greater forward because Karius threw the ball at his feet in the 2018 European Cup Final.
So it short, the match made Kofi look like a chump and didn't do anything for Lesnar. That's the opposite of booked right.
And he was all good with not getting/wanting a rematch he was deserved.

It might have worked if they ever built anything from it. But nope. Back to Midcardville for you, Kofi.
Also the whole "It's realistic just like MMA!" argument falls apart because Brock and Kofi would be in different divisions if you used standard MMA weight limits. Kofi would be in the Cruiserweight division and Lesnar would be either in the Heavyweight or Super Heavyweight division.

Kofi not wanting a rematch and pretty much not giving a shit was also part of what made the idea unforgivable. If Kofi got killed by the guy and got at least a rematch where he could put a fight, end up falling short, but then like Xavier and Big E console him post-match about how he foguht his ass off and get the crowd to go on in a "Thank you Kofi" chant or something, put him over for at least having the fight in him, and then he moves on? Nice swan song for the fan favorite underdog getting a run he was never meant to have. There was no need to do Kofi as dirty as they did him.

I’ve defended some controversial WWE shit in my time here. I loved Orton and Cena holding their own against an army of midcarders. SuperCena generally entertained me. 2006 DX still makes me laugh. Embrace The Hate was glorious. I thought Little People’s Court was hilarious, Big Match Charlotte is one of my favorite characters, there’s a bunch of guest RAW hosts I found entertaining, I love heel Stephanie, I was in favor of turning Punk heel and the company transitioning towards Rock/Cena II.
But Kofi vs. Brock was one of the lamest, deflating and pointlessly spiteful booking calls I’ve ever seen a company do. Didn’t do a damn thing for Brock, Kofi looked like a dumbass, and even if Velasquez hadn’t gotten hurt it was a terrible way to debut him, he wasn’t going to be enough to pick up the crowd after such a lame finish.

If the point was to make him a beast, they should have booked it more like Hogan vs Brock. That made Brock look dangerous.
This made him look lazy.

He wouldn't have even needed to get the title back, or even a win, if they had him do SOMETHING to get payback, like in a cage match, have him try to use to door to get away from Roman or Goldberg or Drew, or whoever they had him against, and have Kofi shut the door and smirk at him, and have Brock get apoplectic over it. There, you at least have him do SOMETHING to make Brock's life more difficult and show he didn't just not give a shit.

I would have gone for a longer mauling. Brock just murders Kofi and even do the Hogan bear hug finish from 02 with Kofi bleeding from his mouth.
A quick finish was just dumb and hurt Smackdown on Fox early. An image of Brock breaking Kofi would have been iconic

i cant say it was done right. You had a lifer finally elevated to main event status and then that. No follow-through either. One can blame kofi for “not caring enough”, but regardless it’s the company’s/bookers job to elevate any and all talent as much as you can.

I wish I was rich enough that I could be the f***ing worst to anyone and everyone around me, force them to watch my bullshit, and purposely choose to do things against my audience's will because, 'we can't let them think they're in charge'. Only Vince could have the big feelgood story of a guy rising to the main event through fan support end in "Nope, Brock Lesnar". Dude almost did it with Danielson too, who was initially supposed to be in that Summerslam squash instead of Cena. The addiction to H E A T is incredible. I'm convinced it was because Vince was hellbent on doing that angle with an underdog babyface the people loved goddamit pal. Feeding Cena to Brock wasn't enough to scratch that itch. Then having Kofi come out the next week all smiley and happy go lucky was ridiculous.

In terms of the bottom paragraph, yeah, the Brock vs Kofi squash was just one of those moments why I barely, if ever watch this company anymore. It did no favors for everyone and just made everything look like WWE wants to spite their fanbase. The fact that Kofi had no rematch and WWE's stupid obsession with "gotta get that heel heat!" put it in moments that this company did that made me say, "WHY?!" Also in terms of the top paragraph, yeah I can agree that most of those moments at least did something rather than just be boring and hell, I was even somewhat entertained by SuperCena, even if at times I felt a bit of a different direction could be done...But in regards to Heel Stephanie, that's the only one I'll say out of the controversial moments you listed above I'll say was just pure garbage.

If there’s one wrestling booking thing that Vince should be crucified for, it’s how he basically made it that SO f***IN’ MANY storylines and just actual plot devices that involved a heel significantly beating a babyface come off as not advancing a story, you know, like in the movie that he would always claim he was making, but as punishing the talent and/or punishing their fans for… his own ego, I guess? WWE STILL can’t shake off that perception even now whenever a heel looks strong, that’s how much damage got done over the years.

Yeah, the Authority overall was go away heat, the final death knell of Evil GMs. I’m talking more about when that was fresher in 2000 with Steph being a chickenshit heel, and how scummy and hammy she was against Brie Bella.

I think one change I would've made was instead of Kofi running over and jumping on Lesnar.... have him give Trouble in Paradise to a surprised Brock. Brock kicks out with ease and then squashes him. Giving Kofi that little bit would've been a better "thank you" for the excitement of the run up to Mania.

The whole thing was criminal, honestly. I appreciate people having different opinions and I will never think less of anyone for holding a different opinion when it comes to wrestling, but for me, it was just criminal.
The whole point of Kofi winning was that it proved sometimes someone is an underdog but they can catch fire and all of a sudden, it all clicks. They can hang with the big dogs and win the big matches. I tend to think they also gave him one of those midcard WWE Title thank you runs, which didn't help him either.
Brock coming in and squashing him like he did just proved that yeah, he was an underdog and got lucky. I don't think it made sense.
They also didn't do ANYTHING with The New Day after it. I'd argue it hurt New Day just as much as it hurt Kofi. Yes, they have had some interesting feuds and good matches since then, but like...nobody cared about the loss, not just Kofi. Xavier and Big E didn't try and go for revenge, it didn't cause any issues in the group. It meant nothing for anyone.
The moment itself holds a lot of significance for a number of reasons and I'm so glad the title win happened, but yeah, they just whiffed on it after that.
The same thing happened to Big E just a few years later but at least Big E had a few big wins over guys like Drew.
