It’s not just about Roman being the clearly more dominant champ, but the wwe championship has been around for 60+ years and there have been 3 secondary world titles since. In 2005, I would of considered the world titled equal but then the WHC fell off, the Universal title for a good while they booked better than the wwe title, but now it seems like they are going to get rid of that lineage too once Roman drops the titles. The new WHC don’t stand a chance.

I mean, my solution for a while is to have Roman drop the WWE title and continue to be the main focus of the company as Universal champion, the same way Triple H was when he was WHC in 2002. At least that way, you *are* making the two titles seem equal.
But WWE seems to have this knack for unifying titles and just having people carry around multiple belts. It's absurd.

They aren’t equal. The world is just for the planet earth. The universal title is for the whole universe. Seems pretty straightforward.
Just like Dom holds more power over his dad cause North America is larger than just the United States. But remember, Gunther rules over Dom and Rey cause he rules over all land. Seth rules over Gunther cause he rules over all the land and water on Earth. And like I stated above Seth rules over Earth while Roman rules over the entire universe.

I'll just say, there's no way the WHC from Raw is closing night two. Night two will always be the REAL main event, no matter what closes night one.

Seth's is just a vanity belt, frankly. It doesn't help he's been the only champion, which, actually hurts its credibility, and does not strengthen it. It just makes it feel like they are positioning it to be absorbed by the other two in a unification down the line.

What you mean the world title they push as being an actual big deal and the shiny consolation prize belt that they flat out admitted they were creating because nobody can beat Roman don't feel as if they're equally valuable?
Hell I'd say not only is the AEW title more valuable but so is the ROH title (which AEW treats basically the same as WWE treats it's midcard belts) and even the f***ing INTERCONTINENTAL title feels more important.

I mean the Intercontinental Title feels more important than the World Heavyweight Title at this point. It's not just the Intercontinental title. Rhea tends to get more screen-time on Raw than Seth. |

They really should stop.
Seth being the inaugural champion was the right call. He alone can claim to have a win over Roman during his title run. So giving the "Not Roman" belt to the guy that beat Roman at least gives a talking point as to why the belt is of comparable value. The treatment of the title afterward has made it feel very unimportant.
First, they should have let Seth bury Roman in a promo after winning it. "Roman's not a fighting champ, Roman never beat me, Roman needs to cheat, this is the real prize now, I'm the workhorse champ, etc."
Second, Seth never main event-ing over Roman. Even when Roman was in meaningless tag matches. If the rule is Roman goes on first or last, they should have let him be first on PLEs when Seth was defending a title and he was not.
Third, having Seth hold on to the belt means we never got the excitement of that title changing hands, so while he was the right guy to be the first, he should have dropped it by now to generate some interest in it.

I get Seth is hurt but it's tough when you set up a new world title that's designed to be more of a workhorse title and than the guy holding it works only slightly more TV matches than Roman.

Thing is I think Seth actually did that. All of his first month promos and even the ones before he got the belt had him saying he's not Roman, he's actually here and all that. The problem is that they need to just have Seth do something Roman can't do. Just something to establish him as superior even though we know they won't because they wanna keep Roman strong. Even Cody was trying to big that belt up and sure while that is great, at the end of the day Roman hasn't really been lowered in the eyes of the company because from an optics standpoint they keep talking about how long he has been champion above how he won those matches. Even Cole at one point on commentary mentioned that regardless of how he did it, he's still held the belt for that long. Honestly it won't mean a thing until Cody beats Roman, loses the belt and then goes on to win Seth's title from someone and that's purely because Cody's probably the kayfabe #1 superstar right now. |

It most certainly counts as main eventing a Wrestlemania Disagree; a main event is the match that’s meant to sell the card, not something that’s treated as such after the fact. I’d count it if it went like NJPW’s two night Wrestle Kingdoms went; in both of those, they had four guys in two matches to finish night one to determine the Intercontinental and Heavyweight champs, and then the winners would meet on night two to decide the ultimate champion who’d hold both titles. In that case, main eventing night one would count, since the night two main event wouldn’t be official until those matches were done. |
