I figured a general thread would be best. Otherwise I wanted to start a thread about Grindhouse Video closing its physical media store, but don’t know how many people on here even knew they existed. Anyway, here’s a link to their site that includes the announcement: grindhousevideo.com/pages/the-knoxville-storeI’ve ordered from them online before and had a good experience. This seems to be the final nail for them having a physical location though as previously they were based in Tampa and the guy moved all the way to Knoxville to open this. Very few physical media stores, particularly those devoted to movies, seem to be able to keep their doors open. I wouldn’t be surprised if whole states in the US don’t have any. I know Massachusetts has at least a few with The Video Underground being arguably the most prominent. They survive in part by having a very generous rental program (yes rental) and having a cafe that hipsters just eat up.

Locally the only store we have left that sells physical media is The Gory Hole, a store that sells horror movies and movie paraphernalia. If you want anything else that isn't horror you're basically SOL

I'm from the Midwest, and the only stores that sell physical media are used stores like Half Price Books and Disc Replay (also fye but who gives a f***). They do get new stuff like toys and vinyls but I mainly go to these stores for games and new game profits at smaller stores are so razor thin that most don't bother.

Here in western PA, we've got a handful of Half Price Books locations and a chain of stores called The Exchange, which sell new and used movies/CDs/video games. The Exchange also has locations in Ohio and I think Michigan.
