Just found this out on a comics site. Say what you will about the character, but he is one of the icons of Marvel.

Happy 50th to the man with all the guns.
And punisher Max is the definitive Punisher series.

Frank Castle is oddly one of the more complex characters in the Marvel universe.
Grew up seeing him in his appearances before he got that first mini series. And was a fan. By 94 was burnt out on him. Took Ennis to update Punisher.
Punisher The Platoon and Punisher Born are classics. That work as both modern superhero comics and a very mature take on the old war comic genre. A genre the Ennis grew up a huge fan of.
I always forget Punisher first showed up a year before I was born.

And it's interesting how both the Tom Jane and Ray Stevenson movies were heavily influenced by Ennis's Marvel Knights then Marvel Max run, yet both also managed to miss the mark.

That Tom Jane movie I hated when I first saw it. Grown to not hate it as much over the years. Ray Stevenson's film on the other hand was the best Punisher film we will ever get. Oddly I wasn't a big fan of the Dolph Punisher film at first but grown to love it.
