I would actually have Kairi take the pin, so that the other members of Damage Ctrl would be like "Where were you while Kairi was getting pinned!" and then have her inadvertently cost IYO the title. At least with those two scenarios you could run with IYO being paranoid that Dakota is a possible double double agent of Bayley trying to screw them over from the inside. Another scenario they could IF KAIRI takes the pin is use this as a plot point to have Asuka and KAIRI break up and ties it into the scenario I have long said needs to play out and gets us to the triple threat. Asuka can return look at KAIRI as weak for losing their titles and it sort of reverts KAIRI back to being the ultra sympathetic babyface as Asuka bullys her...which starts IYO on her babyface turn by defending KAIRI. But KAIRI doesn't embrace her because she wants to prove she is strong as both the women she holds closest.
The thought of Asuka coming back, and feuding with Kairi and IYO....awww that's what I want. Give me what I want!

Got caught up watching something else lastnight so only now catching up.
brief quick thoughts.

Anyone surprised IYO gave Naomi her best match since her return? you shouldn't be IYO just doin what she do
I wish it was a clean finish IYO deserved it going into Mania.
I got a nice laugh at how IYO treated Naomi like some unimportant side quest lol by taking the time to beat Bayley's ass before coming out for her entrance while her stable mates were just chillin and dancing untill she showed.
But I also love that IYO alone was the one beating down Bayley....and not a group beatdown this and the match (untill the very end) finally let IYO get a night where she got to mostly stand on her own and Bayley sold it by not somehow miraculously making it back to the ring to get her revenge ..sad it took this long but atleast IYO got to come off as the threat she should be especially heading into this title match.
OH AND BEST VERSION IF IYO WADE? NAH NAH let me document that multiverse Joshi Island Io tierlist for you...Wade

On paper, the face/heel dynamic is awful, but the fans are mostly cheering the way WWE wants them too, so we are in the minority here.
We have Bayley who has spent years being a terrible person and has done nothing to make up for it. But she is getting big cheers.
We have Bianca who is basically just bullying Damage CTRL at this point. They are no match for her. But, she gets big cheers.

Bayley has looked like such a dork during this storyline. Bayley is likely gonna win at Mania, so who cares. The only people who will be looking like geeks at the end of the day will be Damage CTRL. The only way I see Bayley actually losing at Mania is if she catches heat for her bigging up Mercedes and AEW in that one SI/ESPN interview she did. Along with her complaining about not having the main event this year at Mania. |

At no point did I say she should catch heat for it (because she shouldn't). But it also wouldn't be shocking, because this is WWE we are talking about. Her going to Big Business to support Mercedes is one thing. Her going and doing an interview with a major media outlet and claiming that AEW and Mercedes are a good fit together and that the company is a good place for other women to work is not smart to say in an interview while working for their biggest rival. And even ignoring that, her whining about how her match with Iyo isn't the main event this year is kinda dumb. I think its dumb they aren't main eventing either. But the moment The Rock returned, he was absolutely going to take up at least one of the nights main event slots. That's also ignoring the fact that even without The Rock, WWE would almost certainly have slotted Rhea/Becky into the ME slot over Iyo/Bayley. I have no idea why you seem so against the idea of people in this very thread wanting Iyo to retain in the first place. Japanese wrestler fans in particular are constantly talked down upon for wanting better for Japanese talents in general. They are almost never the focal point for their reigns, and haven't won at Mania (at least on the main card) in over 20 years. This is a trend that happens every goddamn year without fail as well. Look at last year. Asuka was absolutely on fire but then you had fans claiming "oh well actually Bianca is close to beating the record so she should retain". I mean for gods sake, you had fans outright divided when the finish actually happened. That's ignoring that also last year, Damage CTRL should have absolutely went over in the six woman tag match, but instead they put Becky, Trish, and Lita over (and lets not forget how completely f***ing washed Lita actually was). And people were like "hey Trish and Lita deserve this" when if it were any other legend, they would be pissed. I am going to let you in on a little secret here. People in this thread want Iyo to retain/win because she is a good person irl, and absolutely underappreciated by WWE creative, despite the fact that she can absolutely be on the same level as Bianca or Rhea. But apparently we just need to shut up about pointing that out, because it...irritates people who venture into this thread to berate anyone who dares want better booking for Japanese talents! And this isn't unique to the women either. Shinsuke absolutely should have won the title from Rollins. They had every excuse and chance to do so, but completely fumbled it. |

So some rando on tiktok I guess tried to stir up something about Alexa and IYO and made it to twitter and some dirt sheet and how they were "shooting" because Alexa did not want sell according to them and Alexa basically put that to rest by responding.
Just something that made me chuckle at the reach they were goin for.
But this does reinforce my want to see a full blown feud between the two because it was the only point during that time when everyone was pretty much shitting on Alexa for lookin like she gave no f***s but her exchanges with IYO actually brought some fire outta her and they were just throwin hands at eachother.
