Word's spreading Punk might have injured his right tricep/elbow and gutted it out Question now is how badly he hurt himself I guess This whole Seth Rollins feud feels snakebit at this point. He's hurt and might not be even close to 100 percent for Mania, Punk got hurt in his first real match back, if I'm Drew McIntyre I'm asking for a blank f***ing check if they still intend to have them both in a Mania Main Event... They got Priest..He’s a cheaper option that could be used with some build besides yelling at Truth.

He's has, what, one match before last night since Wembley? Punk's at the age and level that he actually needs to be wrestling regularly to stay in rhythm and not look as bad as he did in the Rumble. How does Brock do one match every four months and still be able to go pretty well? Because he's a genetic freak, and he's not normal

How does Brock do one match every four months and still be able to go pretty well? Brock is absolutely beat red and gasping for air if he doesn't rest between moves in a short match He learned from his sensei, Shane McMahon!

Saw some rumors online that Punk might have gotten hurt because he was holding his arm after?

Saw some rumors online that Punk might have gotten hurt because he was holding his arm after? Think it's definitely fair to say he tweaked it - his elbow hit the mat on the Future Shock and the refs were checking on him immediately afterward then he was holding it the rest of the match, plus if that wasn't bad enough the same elbow smacked into the side of the ring when he fell out of it. The question is whether it's just sore or injured, though the lack of any real news on it being looked at or anything hopefully means he's fine.

And this is one of the biggest issues with a Punk return (imo)
Opinions about the guy and his character aside, it is (for me) hard to take him seriously when he goes up to someone like Drew and says he'll "knock his teeth out" or whatever...and then looks like he does in the ring...and let's not even mention UFC
His dog collar match was great, but I can't remember getting into any other AEW Punk match. Maybe some of his tag matches with FTR?
Edit: Just looked at a list of his AEW matches, he def had good matches against Kingston and Moriarty too

They tried to do a repeat of the Cody vs. Gunther finish from last year.
But Gunther is FAR ahead of Punk in ring at this point.

I'm really curious how much the shift in the crowd reactions during the Rumble came from Punk's performance compared to surrounding circumstances. For a lot of the show he was the one getting more chants and the like but once it came down to him and Cody, even before Punk started heeling it up the crowd was firmly on Cody's side. Could be displeasure with Punk's performance, could be because Cody was in there longer, could be that people were expecting Cody to be screwed over and got more into him the more it looked like he wasn't going to be, it'll be interesting to keep an eye on.

He needs more matches to get his wind back. Drew called him a succubus; I think he's more like the cat that sucks the breath out of a baby.

Guy was struggling to pick up Ricochet towards the end.

I like the story with Punk that he is older so he is weaker and slower than he use to be. Showing him having trouble lifting people for go to sleep sold that this version of Punk will need to wrestle and win differently than he use to and I am interested to see how he does it.

I’m not going through the whole Rumble thread but I asked only somewhat jokingly what the odds were he would immediately injure himself again.
He’s not built for this

The report:
CM Punk suffered a significant injury during the Royal Rumble Saturday night.
His exact injury was unconfirmed by those in WWE past many confirming the injury and that as of right now the plan is to have him on the show from Tampa to address the nature of the injury. Within the WWE the speculation was a torn triceps but nobody close enough to the situation would confirm anything more than a significant injury to be addressed on the show.
There was a spot in the Rumble where the referee checked on Punk and he told the ref "My triceps."
Punk tore his triceps previously at All Out in Chicago in 2022 in the main event of the show against Jon Moxley, had immediate surgery and was out of action for more than nine months before returning for the debut of the Collision show. He was likely able to return a little before that but his return was held off to build the debut of Collision, which he was to be the star of.
When Punk told the referee about his triceps it was late in the match after taking a future shock DDT from Drew McIntyre.
Punk was scheduled to face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania this year. It will be clear tonight whether or not that will be possible.

There are many, many ways that CM Punk could continue to be an asset to WWE. Commentary. Managing. On-screen authority figure. Occasional special attraction who never, ever has singles matches. But his in-ring career is washed.
I said it earlier but, in my opinion, Punk's persistent injuries were the catalyst to his meltdown and ultimate exit from AEW more so than anything else that happened. He was pretty clearly upset that his body was failing him and upset that he couldn't handle the in-ring side of his return, and he lashed out at Hangman. I'm not going to dive back into the weeds of who was or wasn't at fault from there, but that was the start of it. This is going to be a similar situation, I think...it can't be good for Punk's mental health that he went back to WWE, made huge strides in rehabbing his image and reputation, and then got hurt again in what amounted to his very first televised match. We're about to see if he genuinely did have any growth as a person in the aftermath of Scrumgate because if he's going to lash out again, it'll be now.

I hope Punk does have a speedy recovery, but part of me feels this is the universe bringing karmic justice into effect
