Still can't fathom why they couldn't have him wrestle a few short tv matches in the last 2 months. You go in cold like he did on Saturday, with his injury track record, and you're not just asking, you're begging for trouble. Shit sucks for the dude. Absolutely sucks. He knows he can go, he's willing, but his body is like 'nah dawg, we good. Thought you gave this shit up a decade ago bro wtf' I remember seeing some videos of him backstage like just hanging out and he had a heating pad on his back. I wouldn't be surprised if he was already hurting - but not like HURT - going into the Rumble so they were trying to be careful. Then yeah, freak thing, pop goes the tricep again.

He knows he can go, he's willing, but his body is like 'nah dog, we good. Thought you gave this shit up a decade ago bro wtf' That's exactly why I didn't understand why he seemed to be the betting favorite before the rumble and not surprised he got injured. Put his AEW injuries aside and it still isn't surprising. He's going to end up finishing this run without a single TV match and went from a house show match with Dom to... the whole ass Royal Rumble? Most people think it is easy to hide people in Rumbles so they don't get tired but it actually isn't. It is grueling and you have to get ready for it as a performer completely differently than a 5-10 minute TV match and that is a huge workload to put on someone who hasn't been wrestling unless you're being immediately thrown out. I don't get WWE's logic at all with how they did this, hindsight or not.

I wonder if this is one of those times WWE regrets the 2 night Mania format. They've lost two pretty big (presumed) night one matches in short order. I think there’s still plenty of depth there, without even getting to break glass in case of emergency options (Cena, Austin, Shane, Taker). Figure they only need between 12 and 14 matches total. Roman vs. Cody Rollins vs. Drew vs. Zayn Becky vs. Rhea Iyo vs. Bayley Gunther vs. Bron/Okada (big difference in starpower obviously) Logan vs. Knight Jey vs. Jimmy Rey vs. Santos Priest vs. Finn Orton vs. Styles Kabuki Warriors vs. Liv/Naomi Jade vs. Bianca That’s 12, and still didn’t book KO, Dom, Miz, Truth, Shinsuke, Sheamus, Lashley, Kross, Andrade, Waller, Theory, Melo, all of the men’s tag teams, Bronson, Stroman (if healthy), Gable, Ricochet, Solo

I know people love turning to that whole "fragile mind, fragile body" Mox promo, but like...sorry, some dude tearing his triceps twice and still finishing a match doesn't seem like fragile to me. Aging? Sure. Fragile? Perhaps not. Stupid? Oh yeah. 'wrestlers do it all the time!' I know, they're all stupid. Wrestlers are stupid, promoters are stupid. Stop working hurt, it's stupid

So now whats left then with the biggest possible match for Seth now down the tubes.
Jey Drew Sami Priest
None of those individually are enough IMO to fill out the main event or either night at Mania unless they go multiman and with Gunther not able to go to Perth for the chamber really no other options on the table.

I'm curious how Drew could be involved now because I imagine they were not intending on giving him too high profile of a Mania match until he signs a new contract. Doesn't mean he can't lose a title match per se but that is a big spot for a guy who could very well work elsewhere in May. If they’re really worried about that, they can blow off Zayn-Drew as the final two in the Chamber and Zayn gets Rollins one on one in a face vs. face title match. Drew can then be programmed with someone else.

I feel like this is just one of those situations where they may just have to bite the bullet and put him in the match. This also just might be one of those situations where they say eff it to the brand split and get creative. Put Logan Paul in a multiman ladder match with KO, AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio, Santos Escobar and Andrade for the US Title and somehow get LA Knight over to RAW and go with LA Knight vs. Seth vs. Sami vs. Damien for the WHT.

Just needs to retire. He said that he wants to do it until the wheels come off, the wheels are well and truly falling off and there's probably one left.

Maybe they do Judgment Day vs Sami/KO for tag belts and then put Drew against Breaker or Sheamus? With Gunther vs Seth title for title.

f*** it, have Priest cash in tonight and parlay his RTruth program into the WHC mania match. Truth Mania! Have him win the belt but ask where his robe and crown are at.

Should legit do an Iron Survivor match at WM now. Rollins v McIntyre v Zayn v Priest v Balor. Works great looking at the four NXT matches as a proof of concept. Like, could you imagine how hot the crowd would be if Zayn went on one of those final minute Trick Williams runs to win the belt?
It could also minimise Rollins’s involvement with the bad knee, have him enter last as “champion’s privilege” or something, only working 10 minutes.

I hope Punk does have a speedy recovery, but part of me feels this is the universe bringing karmic justice into effect I suppose his injuries in AEW were him receiving karmic justice for leaving the industry altogether the first time.

It will remain tremendously funny if Priest still isn’t going to cash in when both the champion and the challenger he couldn’t cash in because it would ruin the Mania plans for are injured.
The match isn’t happening. The champion is injured. You have a huge stadium show in Perth without Punk, Seth, Roman or Brock available. Cody already has his Mania plans so if he’s on that show it’s in some worthless spot. Put the stupid secondary title Seth holds on him already and at least have a title match on that show.

Now I’ll be disappointed if they don’t. anyway rough news about punk. I see that people are mentioning Seth as being in the match, but is that even a given ?

Part of me also wondering if they use this as a chance to do an injury angle where somebody gets the "rub" of taking out Punk, instead of him just disappearing.

Jey Drew Sami Priest None of those individually are enough IMO to fill out the main event or either night at Mania unless they go multiman and with Gunther not able to go to Perth for the chamber really no other options on the table. I think there are a few directions that they could go. They could have Priest cash in and then do a few things. In the first scenario, Priest gets the belt and is subsequently turned on by Judgment Day which leads to Priest vs Balor at Mania for the title. In the second scenario, you have Priest get the title, then you have him defend in the Elimination Chamber. Balor is also in the match, but he gets eliminated after Priest opts not to break up the pin on him. That leads to Balor turning on Priest and causing him to get pinned. That gives us Priest vs Balor in a grudge match for Mania along with the new champion, Drew McIntyre, defending at Mania against Sami Zayn. I feel like Sami vs Drew is happening at Mania anyway, so making it the title match and having Sami win his first world title at Mania would be a great way to have a show that the fans will love. If you've got Night 1 with Bayley and Sami getting world titles followed by Night 2 where Cody finishes the story, then you're going to have a very happy set of fans.
