Also, the more people say “Guaranteed Money ruined pro wrestling”, the more I just utterly side eye them. Especially when they worked for two companies run by multi-billionaires, you should want to squeeze ever goddamn penny from them, whether they’re named Nick Khan or Tony Khan. Turns out that's the bit he didn't like about Hangman's promo. He will not have it said that he talks a big game about worker's rights, he's here to cape for billionaires.

Won't somebody please think of the billionaires who are just barely scraping by, over their employees who are living the life of luxury and are greedy.

It’s like bitching about how much sports people are payed when the owners have more money than God. I’d be much happier about the industry if Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe were paid LeBron/Messi/Hamilton money.

I was JUST starting to be cool with his WWE work and try to forget him being a c*** in AEW.

It's just such an odd thing to say. Even if you think in theory that guaranteed money makes workers lazy - it just hasn't played out that way? The folks I see on TV work pretty damn hard both in and out of the ring to put on a great show - much more so than previous generations. People clearly have pride in their work and there are plenty of incentives for them to do so. It's a clearly disproven theory (and obviously even if it was true, it's fine, the wrestlers should get paid).

Those same people will see what owners like John Fisher are doing, say it's bad, but still back them when there's a labor dispute.

He doesn't want to take accountability for his actions, says Colt tried to squash their beef to help the company but wasn't having it, and thinks guaranteed contracts are a problem.

Lmfao @ even Punk telling Tk the two show, split roster thing was dumb AF. Man even told him to fire him because nobody liked him.
Literally the same thing verbatim some fans were saying. What some of us were saying here.
“I didn’t have to sign an nda for anything I did wrong”
“This company’s a joke. You’re a clown. I quit”
“He’s a nice guy. Not a boss”.
“ doing this one and the recovery for this one, it’s night and day. It’s almost the comparison between places. Where there’s structure, there’s protocols. And there’s professional people in charge of things. And I’m not having to research and find a PT Spot. I had no help. Nothing. That’s insane to me. Is that how they treat the jaguars players? I don’t know”.
“Their business, it’s not a real business. It’s not predicated on selling tickets. It’s not about drawing money. It’s not about making money.”
“That shit does not fly on national television. I think it’s being proven right now. Maybe sometimes. Maybe some bites here and there. It’s not a sustainable business.”
“If you’re more happy with some goof saying that you had a five star match, and the buildings a quarter full, we’re not in the same business.”
Great interview. I was tempering my expectations but it delivered.
Pretty fascinating interview. Helwani got a lot.

If I had a nickel for every time CM Punk got injured for months, and went on a crazy scorched earth rant about AEW, I'd have two nickels
Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened in TWO SEPERATE COMPANIES...

Punk has to be number 1 when it comes to wrestler interviewers because whether it's good or bad, the media and fans eat off it. Like I wish it wasn't this way but we will be talking about this at least the rest of the week until WM washes over it.

I remember when I used to have respect for this dude, but holy shit is that time gone. Rant incoming, so skip this post if you don't want to hear the ramblings of a dude bitching on a wrestling message board... I do agree that Jack Perry and Hangman were in the wrong for their bullshit. But Punk acting like he's some bastion of professionalism when his tirade at the presser was one of the most unprofessional and disrespectful things I've seen in wrestling. Looking back, I wish TK would've just looked at him right then and there and told him to get his shit and leave. Like him or not, TK obviously respected Punk and wanted it to work, but Punk is an asshole and continued to cause problems. Punk would've never, ever pulled that presser shit in the WWE because it's a giant corporate machine, they'd just fire him and put the next puppet up in his place. TK (again, whether you like him or not) is an actual professional wrestling fan who wanted to keep him around. If anything is a gimmick, it's the fact that this fraud portrays himself as some sort of punk rocker fighting the big, ugly system of professional wrestling. The fact is, as soon as he was fired, he ran back to the giant corporate sex pest den for the payday and the pettiness of 'sticking it' to AEW. That's not me being some gatekeeping tool, it's just a fact. He took the most un-punk route he could've taken. He traded in his women's rights and trans rights shirts for his official licensed WWE MERCH without a blink of an eye. Wear those on WWE TV, if you want to be a rebel, Phil. And I get that AEW isn't exactly 'indie', but there's other places he could've went that would've caused an impact or helped a fledgling company's business. He doesn't need the money, so it wasn't remotely an issue of him desperately needing a big paycheck. AEW will get a new TV deal and be just fine, so him throwing out the tired Cornette line about the company being a "disaster" proves how ignorant he is. TK and his family have the money to keep it going forever, if they want. Maybe grifter Cornette and his bitch boy Brian Last can have him on and they can convince themselves that AEW is some sort of failure, I don't know. It seems like just yesterday he was getting sued for bad-mouthing that company and its figureheads on a podcast with a long-time friend he completely shit on and sued. Now he's all too eager to shit on the company that had the AUDACITY to have issues of him bad-mouthing the company to the press and consistantly causing issues backstage. The fact is, AEW didn't and doesn't need him. The talent backstage knew that and didn't line up to kiss his ring, which is what Punk ultimately had a problem with. Dude can wear all the Ramones shirts he wants, there's nothing about him that's "punk" or genuine. The best thing anyone in AEW can do about this is completely ignore him. They brought in Mone, Okada, and Ospreay, all three of which I'd trade for him in a heartbeat. There's no need to respond to a sad, frail man who desperately wants the world to think he's some sort of badass. Phew. I'm sorry that anyone had to read that, but I needed to vent after being an idiot and subjecting myself to that interview.

Speaking soley for myself, I'm not angry over the interview as much as I'm angry at Punk for what type of person he is. I guess if I'm being honest, a lot of it comes from being mad at myself for supporting this clown for so long.

I think I've watched most of it now. On the point about guaranteed contracts, a small difference to the tweet quote is he said "it's almost like guaranteed contracts ruined...."
The almost qualifier leaves it open as to whether he thinks they're overall a good or bad thing, I suspect the former but who knows. However his point was he thinks some wrestler's focus has been taken away from what will draw the most money, biggest crowds etc. Not that anyone is lazy etc, just that priorities are misplaced.
Fascinating interview overall though. I agree with most on the various examples of hypocrisy but someone being hypocritical is hardly the biggest sin, most of us are to varying degrees. The difference with Punk of course is he's so vocal about it all.

Stirring the pot is one thing, but nobody should be taking anything Punk says about anything seriously. I mean, Punk's camp tried for months to say an outward opening door was somehow kicked inwards with such force as to knock out his dog's tooth; dude's full of shit 99% of the time.
