I hope this works out for Punk. I really do. I’ve been a massive fan, and up until Brawl Out a defender; of Punk. The AEW run left a sour taste in my mouth. I hope he gets to close out his career like he deserves.

He has storylines all built for him for this complete run assuming it's 3 years like someone mentioned online. Hurt Business Bloodline Judgment Day That alone will be at least a year full of storylines.

Well, you could if Bloodline hadn’t basically run its course. That needs to move into the end game after Mania

I dunno. I don't think Punk's ready for a healthy return to wrestling, let alone WWE. Two months isn't nearly long enough for anyone to work on their own issues and built back trust with others after such a string of behaviour before.
It is really only a matter of time before he gets into someone's face that WWE can't dare risk letting go. It feels almost as if WWE brought him back primarily to test his mettle with the hope that he's exposed once and for all as Problematic with the first incident.
WWE might as well hire Tessa Blanchard if they're going to bring Punk back after all this.

Ricky was leaving the moment he saw Cody and Jade were thriving I'd say. This Punk thing doesn't help or hurt that. He still going imo. Starks had one eye out the door for a hot min

Build back trust maybe, but speaking as someone who has often let his personal issues toss a match on bridges, sometimes the incident itself is a come to Jesus moment and you start working on bettering yourself immediately.

I figured he was coming back but in the next year or so, not quite this soon. I guess though with a big 4 PPV in Chicago and Mania season about to start the timing just made sense to get it done now. There's a very short list of major names who don't end up mending fences and returning. Macho Man was the main one who didn't but even he looked like he was finally back in the fold in late 2010-early 2011 when he started doing stuff like the video game. I think the talk was he was going to headline the hall of fame in Florida in 2012 but he obviously died before that could happen. But there’s no one in wrestling that stirs the pot like him. It doesn’t manifest itself in TV ratings or buyrates. But just based on pure internet chatter, which is something WWE values greatly, he is unrivaled. It's true that his peak in WWE didn't draw on TV/PPV like online buzz would make you think but he absolutely was a game changer for AEW. He was by far the biggest draw in the history of the company so far. Top PPV draw. Top ratings draw. Top merch draw. Out of the 25 PPVs AEW has produced the 7 that Punk wrestled on are the 7 with the most buys which seems very unlikely to be coincidence.

Thread jumped nine pages after I went to sleep. I expected more.
Anywho, would any of this have happened if Survivor Series was anywhere but Chicago? Do we attribute all this to WWE’s booking/scheduling office?

This signing does demonstrate a certain political canniness (carniness?) on Triple H's part.
CM Punk keeps his nose clean the entire time he's in WWE? Triple H is that good of a boss to keep a known problem child like Punk in check.
CM Punk crashes and burns like he did in AEW? It retroactively puts Triple H in the right for a lot of things related to Punk over the past 10-15 years.
Either way, Triple H comes out looking pretty good because of this signing. Whereas like many others have said in this thread, Punk needs this. Triple H doesn't.

One thing’s for sure: the inevitable WWE 24 documentary will be interesting.

And rightfully so Don’t like quoting my own post, and maybe this is a controversial opinion, but I think Ricky Starks is a better version of LA Knight. And younger to boot. Ricky absolutely (no pun intended) should be a major player in WWE

Huh? MVP was last managing Omos, Lashley is now in an alliance with The Street Profits, Cedric Alexander is irrelevant and Shelton Benjamin is out of the company. That stable is dead.

Do we attribute all this to WWE’s booking/scheduling office? Everything just ended up being a perfect storm as far as him coming in now If this wasn't in Chicago, I don't think the urgency is there for him to come in right now. Maybe it would been a few months or a year from now or rumors would been coming at the Rumble but everything just so happened to fall into WWE lap. Add in that Chicago basically just gave them big bank for SD and PLE sell outs so the market was hot as well after all the teases between Punk and/or Orton returning

So I guess whatever was said at that backstage visit back in the summer probably helped too. Except old man Vince, he wanted him escorted off the premises. Speaking of Vince, anyone check up on him after this? Is he dead? I can’t tell if Vince would be unbelievably proud of how Hunter’s been killing it or bitter I think a touch of both. Proud that Trips has taken the ball and ran with it, bitter that it’s not him doing it.

My sincerest sympathies for WWE fans for all the drama incoming from this man Cant wait for the "CM Punk threatens to Punch the Saudi Prince" Thread How quick we are to forget Punk has nuclear heatz threads each month in the early 2010s

What an interesting trade btw, Punk for Flair - who wins that?! Wwe easily. Punk might have undermined his character, be a problem backstage, lost some of his already limited athleticism, go on weird tirades and come up with crap angles but at least he's still capable of the odd good match. His delivery of promos is still unmatched too, just the content is usually crap. Flair offers nothing positive and has his mushroom juice making everything look ugly.

I still don't really understand why Knight is over like he is after seeing him wrestle.
