Does anyone miss this guaranteed but yet predictable formula WWE use to run?
From 2001 to 2007 they had a good streak where the Royal Rumble winner would win the world title outright at Wrestlemania to crown a new champion.
2001 saw Austin's redemption, 2002 was Hunter's comeback, 2003 re-crowned Brock, 2004, 2005 and 2006 were first time champions. And Undertaker got his first world title in 10 years in 2007.
But since 2008 to 2023, only 5 winners have come out on top in 16 shows since. The last Rumble winner to win the world title at Wrestlemania was Seth in 2019.
Do you miss the old days where the Rumble winner wins the World title at Wrestlemania?

No. I don’t think it should be rigid either way. Just whoever’s deemed “right”.
It did trip me out at WM 2000, because I felt conditioned looking back at the past ones, that the face always won.

Generally. Without it the Rumble basically has no reason to exist.

Actually it was "only" 5 years for Taker. He won the undisputed title from Hogan in 2002. Not that it refutes your point in anyway.

It doesn't have to be an "always" thing, but it should be the vast majority of the time, same with Money in the Bank. Moreso for Royal Rumble, even.

McIntyre won the title in 2020 But yes more often than not the Rumble winner should win the title at Mania.

The last Rumble winner to win the world title at Wrestlemania was Seth in 2019. Drew's heel turn is all your fault.

Wow, didn’t consciously realise so many Royal Rumble winners had lost at Wrestlemania in the past decade+. I generally like the Rumble winner to win at Wrestlemania, but it depends on the story. Looking at some of the results I think there are a few mistakes in booking. It just ends up being a missed opportunity. It did trip me out at WM 2000, because I felt conditioned looking back at the past ones, that the face always won. Still a bewildering result all these years later.

I look at it the same way I do "should heels have the advantage to start war games?" Most of the time they should but you've got to do it the other way on occasion just to keep it from being 100% predictable every year.
I think the Rumble winner hasn't won at Mania enough though in recent years. Nakamura especially I think should have beaten AJ.
One of the occasions when I think they could easily have had the Rumble winner lose was Orton in 2017. Bray had only held the title for weeks and Orton had already infiltrated and outsmarted the Wyatt Family, won the big Survivor Series match, won the Rumble and burned down the Wyatt compound so he had gotten plenty of shine and didn't necessarily need yet another world title. He's a guy that could easily have taken the loss.

Telegraphing a win typically makes the experience less fun. If that was the guarantee, then it would seem like the Royal Rumble was the true experience by comparison.
I actually like that WWE took a break from their "collect your title" as Mania streak they had going on. Wrestling to me is more fun if the chance of winning to losing in these scenarios is close to 50/50 for either party.

Make it so the winner doesn't main event but instead feuds with Vince over a chicken costume.

Drew won the Rumble in 2020 and won the title at WM.
If Punk wins the Royal Rumble, he will probably beat Rollins for the title at WM.
The RR Winner should only win at WM if it's right for business.

Here's my year by year picks on whether or not someone should have won at Wrestlemania. 1993: Yokozuna - I would say yes but not have him lose to Hogan 1994: Luger and Bret - Yes to both. Luger beats Yoko and then loses to Bret setting up a Luger heel turn. 1995: Shawn Michaels - While a heel HBK with the belt in 95 sounds interesting to me I think I'd ultimately go with no 1996: Shawn Michaels - Yes, I think the boyhood dream has to come true. 1997: Steve Austin - More of a storyline win with no plans to have him wrestle for the title at Mania. If he had, I would say no. 1998: Steve Austin - Easiest yes ever 1999: Vince McMahon - Another storyline win and a definite no for him winning the title at Mania 2000: The Rock - He should have won. There's a reason people remember the Backlash more. 2001: Steve Austin - Austin had to win 2002: Triple H - One of the few times Triple H actually needed the Mania win 2003: Brock Lesnar - Yeah, he needed to win 2004: Chris Benoit - I mean hindsight probably says no but at the time it was an easy pick for Benoit to win here 2005: Batista - Another easy yes 2006: Rey Mysterio - I could see an argument for Angle retaining or Orton winning here but I like Rey winning here 2007: The Undertaker - I think Taker needed this win at the time so I agree with this one 2008: John Cena - Technically he used his shot at No Way Out but I do think Orton retaining was the right call in the end 2009: Randy Orton - Orton needed the Wrestlemania win but he had to wait a month like The Rock in 2000. 2010: Edge - I'm okay with Jericho retaining over Edge because Jericho badly needed a win. 2011: Alberto Del Rio - At the time I would have said he should have won but in hindsight I'm happy he lost 2012: Sheamus - Yeah, he should have won. Not sure if 18 seconds was the right way to go but he should have won. 2013: John Cena - Yeah, he had to win. 2014: Batista - Nope, they made the right choice here by having Daniel Bryan win. 2015: Roman Reigns - I like the cash-in but I think Roman should have won because I feel it took him a bit to recover from not winning here. 2016: Triple H - He was already champion but it was the right call to have him lose at Mania. 2017: Randy Orton - Didn't need the win. Wyatt should have won. 2018: Shinsuke Nakamura - What a dumb decision. He should have won and he's still never recovered from it. 2018: Asuka - Also a dumb decision. WWE has done her better than Shinsuke but she was never bigger than she was right here. 2019: Seth Rollins - Yes, he needed to win 2019: Becky Lynch - She definitely needed to win here. 2020: Drew McIntyre - Yes, it's just too bad it was the Covid year. 2020: Charlotte Flair - This is a weird one because she went for the NXT title. I'll go with yes. 2021: Edge - I think Edge probably should have won for the feel good comeback plus it would have saved me from years of Roman Reigns misery booking. 2021: Bianca Belair - Easy yes. 2022: Brock Lesnar - I was okay with him not winning even if it meant more Roman. 2022: Ronda Rousey - Another one where I was okay with Ronda losing at Mania 2023: Cody Rhodes - He may win at Wrestlemania 40 but I still think he should have won at 39 and you can't change my mind. 2023: Rhea Ripley - She had to win after losing to Charlotte before so I'm happy she won here.

Royal Rumble winners don't always have to win big one at Wrestlemania. However with that said seeing as the last 3 Mens winners all lost to Roman, it's time for the next winner to beat Roman or Seth/win a world title.
