Betting line is currently even money on whether or not this actually gets made.

As someone who was and still kinda is a big fan of Kojima's work, LOL.
There's a reason he hasn't made a movie past despite all his talk of wanting to make one and that's because he's inescapable of composing a narrative in a streamlined format. Good for video games, terrible for movies.

If it's anything like A24's horror movies, we're pretty much guaranteed a Death Stranding movie that'll toe the line between artistry and total unabashed pretentiousness.

Every post MGSV game Kojima has made is visually stunning to look at but the stories are incoherent messes. If anything MGSV had one of the more coherent plots and now I'm starting to see why Konami forced him out (kept going over budget multiple times, multiple delays, and a story that logically has holes in them.) Kojima is really out there creatively but none of it makes sense.

Kojima is really out there creatively but none of it makes sense. In a company that reallocates people to do menial jobs if they don't comply or are deemed "not useful" at the time, has an archaic email system that requires a new account to be created periodically just so hiring agencies don't go after their employees, doesn't give new hires what they need to do their jobs for weeks (including their company email!), has cameras to monitor what the employees are doing among several other things that make it seem like a literal nightmare to work there, you'd be be damned sure I'd be spending every last yen of theirs I wanted to make my game. Also, Kojima's case is hardly unique, as various high profile game directors have been fired or quit Konami under less than ideal situations going back to when a few programers left to form Treasure, dismayed with Konami's reliance on sequels. I'm sorry, but I'm not taking Konami's side on this one. Also, although it's a Death Stranding movie, it's possible it's not just an adaptation of the game, or at least I hope not. A 3 hour movie with Norman Reedus just walking for 2 and a half of them can be a bit on the boring side.

Whatever they are and yeah you have a point about Konami but Kojima and a competent plot are common threads in his games.

Honestly it might be better as a movie than a game.

I am loathe to defend Konami who are by all accounts a terrible company... but Kojima needs boundaries. He needs a guy that slaps his hand and tell him no. Otherwise he'll stick every idea he has into something whether it makes sense to or not, or if it adds anything to the game of substance... or is it just a thing to add the game because you can add it to the game...
