116. DARK HARVEST (2023) This thing carries a lot of weird aura as it follows a small, seemingly 60s-set, town where high schoolers are required to stop a cornfield monster named Sawtooth Jack before he can reach the town church and whoever slays the beast sets his family up with money and a fancy new home. But there's something off about the whole thing and the local bad kid in a leather jacket might just ruin the whole thing.
It's got a heck of a vibe to it.
117. PET SEMETARY: BLOODLINES (2023) Sometimes, prequels are better...this is probably not one of those times.
But they say 'the line' so there's that.
118. WATCHERS (1988) My Dean Koontz experiment continues with perhaps his most successful adaptation (Dino De Laurentiis may have got Stephen King, but Roger Corman found Dean Koontz) that follows a super smart experiment dog that is mentally linked with a super aggressive monster that wants to kill the dog and anyone who made contact with the good boy. Unlike the novel it's based on, instead of running into a military man, the dog meets up with a young man, played by Corey Haim, who works to protect him from both the monster and the government agents trying to track the dog down.
I'm a sucker for dog acting and this one is full of it. I will never not love the moment where the dog picks up a pencil with it's mouth and types out a message on a keyboard. They do a lot of work to hide their monster suit in this, but I loved it when they showed it anyway. Good practical rubbery monsters are just fun.
119. WATCHERS II (1990) Resets the first movie and has the dog run into a military guy this time (played by the Beastmaster himself Marc Singer). More "Boy this dog is smart" scenes that I love and it shows a lot more of the monster this time. The third act doesn't have nearly enough "good boy" so it's a little lower than the first to me despite adding a "Frankenstein" like creator of the monster who is trying to track it down before it gets hurt.
120. WATCHERS III Seemingly a sequel to part 2, but with Cole Hauser in the Marc Singer role. This time, they straight up rip-off Predator by having the monster on a mission trying to kill the dog in the jungle and our main human character being dropped in with a team of soldiers (We're on a budget, so it's just four people instead of the amount of people in Predator) unknowing of what's waiting for them.
Yeah. It's Air Bud vs. Predator. That's my bag, man. I want that every day.
I didn't realize it was a direct sequel until the "reunion" scene where Cole Hauser starts bragging about how smart the dog is.
The dog is smart enough to do the "Use the map to set a trap" scene from most action movies in a jungle and at one point disarms a bomb, so I also love this movie.
121. WATCHERS: REBORN (1998) Okay, so we're half rebooting the series with this one, while seemingly just readapting the initial story and changing out the military man for a cop played by MARK HAMILL.
Has the absolute best "Smart Dog" reveal scene with Hamill's absolute bafflement as he realizes what's going on and starts "Yes"/"No" questioning the dog with things like "Do you want this chicken?" (One bark) or "Do you want to go to war...and die?!" (Two barks).
It's directed by John Carl Buechler, who was a special effects legend, so the kills are rather brutal at points. I'd say it really is the best one. Man, it's been over 25 years. We need more Smart Dog Horror Movies.
Also, if you've ever wanted to see Mark Hamill shout "I don't need a lesson in compassion from the woman creating the ultimate killing machine!" then I have the movie for you.
122. THE WARRIOR AND THE SORCERESS (1984) YOJIMBO...IN...SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE.
The old Roger Corman special of "Film in a desert and call it a different planet," follows David Carradine as a mystical warrior with a sword (Yes, named Cain) who wanders into a town where two rival groups feud over the town water supply while innocent citizens are barely surviving. He pulls the old "play them against each other" plot that you've seen a hundred times, but never with one of the bad guys having a lizard man who whispers advice in his ear.
And, again, because it's a Roger Corman production, you better believe that Sorceress is pretty much topless the whole time because...uh...different planet different ways?
It's okay. I liked the eventual sword battle between Carradine and the main tough guy henchman.
123. MAN-THING (2005) The movie that usually ends up on the absolute bottom of every "Marvel Movies Ranked" list is...actually just fine? It's an 80s/90s style horror movie made in 2005, directed by the same guy who did The Lawnmower Man and Virtuosity (and also plays the coroner in this film).
It's a rather straight forward monster horror movie set in a swamp but with a known comic book character that looks good, but doesn't act the character at all.
Has an absolute absurd end for the main human villain and a kill that reminds me of 1979's The Prophecy where a character convinces themselves the monster is a Native American guardian and learns a very bad lesson from that mistake.
Not as bad as suggested, just not on the level of other things.
124. MIDNIGHT RIDE (1990) What if "The Hitcher" but with Mark Hamill occasionally dipping into his Joker voice/laugh?
A woman being pursued by her cheating husband (who is also a cop) picks up a nice seeming hitchhiker who...is not...well. Thus begins a game of cat and mouse where said hitchhiker plays with both members of the cat and mouse game and has a great time while doing so.
As someone who remembers the line "On the rims?!" from Jeepers Creepers 2 where a teen refuses to drive the bus they're stuck on because the tires are flat, I appreciate the part where the woman has Mark Hamill check the tire that just went flat and then takes off until that sucker completely falls off.
Slow at times, but when it's crazy, it's good. Not nearly enough one liners from Hamill.
125. HUNDREDS OF BEAVERS (2022) Live action black and white cartoon with bits on top of bits on top of bits...
Even if it is a bit too long.

63. Beyond the Time Barrier (1960) 64. The Adventures of Captain Zoom in Outer Space (1995) 65. Silent Predators (1999)Stumbled onto this old, somewhat infamous TV movie on YouTube. For those not familiar, a group of deadly rattlesnakes threaten a small Southern California town and it's up to the local Fire Chief to stop them. So this has a reputation for being really bad. And it is pretty stupid. But it honestly doesn't feel much worse then any other B-movie of its day. It actually gets pretty boring at times.

53-Harlem Nights-Paramount Plus
Was time for the pre lunch break here. Dad was wanting soomething to watch while some paint dried. And neither of us had seen this in years.
Panned when it came out I love this damn movie. Della Reese should win an Oscar for her performance in the film.

Tom looked so uncomfortable for so much of this. Most of the non-comedians were bad and the actual comedians were good. Go figure. [***]

I'm not sure what I watched. The tone is all over the place, it has a weird feeling but somehow it all... works just about.

64. The Adventures of Captain Zoom in Outer Space (1995) 65. Silent Predators (1999) 66. Osmosis Jones (2001)Another YouTube movie. Fun little old family movie. Would've preferred they spent a little more time with Ozzy and Drix and little less with Frank, but otherwise a perfectly enjoyable ninety minutes.

22. Migration
We are getting rid of Peacock in a few days so we are burning off all the movies we can from it. This was the story of a family of ducks who decide to fly to Jamaica and end up getting chased by a chef who wants to cook them. It’s a bit weird and disjointed and nowhere near as good as I had hoped.

169 - The Flamingo Kid (1984) - enjoyable. Great soundtrack too.
170 - Body Snatchers: The Invasion Continues (1993) - I thought this was great and with a relatively small running time, it just flew by.
171 - Love Bite (2012) - so, so but could have been way better.

65. Silent Predators (1999) 66. Osmosis Jones (2001) 67. Back to School (1986)Another YouTube movie. And another one that almost gets me in trouble at work because I'm not expecting a PG-13 movie to have naked boobies in it. Fun time-killer of a movie. Only real complaint is Keith Gordon's character. He's supposed to be a secondary protagonist but he's so vanilla compared to all the over-the-top personalities around him that you forget he's there half the time.

68. The Mummy (1999) - Saw this in theaters. This may come as a surprise to some, but I never saw this movie. That isn't to say that I didn't have my chances. Nor does it say that I never wanted to. I just never got around to it. When I heard it was brought back to theaters for its 25th anniversary, I thought, "Why not?"
With that said, I will say that I had a lot of fun with it. I could see that it was very entertaining with some of its comedic elements and one-liners. It was clear that it was not a dark movie, but when it got serious, it knew when to set the tone, especially when heading towards the climax.
Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz had an interesting dynamic. Arnold Vosloo, while he wasn't in the movie for that long, he did fine with what he had to work with as the villain. Plus, the action scenes were neatly shot.
I will note that the CGI doesn't look too good by today's standards, but I suppose back in 1999, the effects looked a lot better then.

32. Snatch
The use of racist terms is pretty jarring, but getting beyond that it's a fantastic violent comedy. Keeping track of all the plots and how they run together, it is like a gangster Frasier episode.

67. Back to School (1986) 68. King Kong (1976)I first watched this during the pandemic lockdown. It had its issues (most of them named "Dwan"), but it was an entertaining enough movie over-all. But it also had weird cuts in it that felt like stuff was edited out. So when this showed up on YouTube, I figured I should give it another watch to see if I was right. And I was! All the boat scenes after Kong's capture were cut from the version I saw, and a lot of the final showdown on the Twin Towers was heavily edited as well (not sure why you would do that to the movies climax, but whatever). Anyways, it was nice to see the completed movie, but none of it did anything to change the quality.
