No, the Tokyo Dome actually has people in attendance.

No, the Tokyo Dome actually has people in attendance. The Rays are the most egregious team in all of pro sports when it comes to inflating attendance. They go around saying they average 17,000/game, when all their games look like this. I think The Athletic did a piece and showed they were closer to 5k/game All the baseball fans here know I am not exaggerating or joking

I did a double take when I saw this thread... Tropicana Field is a dumpster fire, so much so Tampa's wanted the Rays to be relocated for years It was a mistake from Day One. As stated in another comment, it was an attempt to put together a baseball facility to lure a team. White Sox I know were one of them. It was during the boom of Central Florida and their attempt to try and bring baseball to the region. The last proposal was 2028 being the earliest it'll be replaced and that'll be likely punted again, but at the very least by the time of its death, it would have gotten 40 years of use. But just like the Edward Jones Dome, Georgia Dome, and Alamo Dome, they were cookie cutter late 2nd Generation Domes that were put up before the 3rd Gen in the 2000s (Reliant Stadium, Ford Field, etc.) were built, all of which changed how archictects and planners perceived how to build these sort of stadiums. As a result each had flaws to them that made them outdated within a decade. It's a shame but they felt like it was their best bet and unfortunately it created a 40 year vacuum of problems for the city instead. The poor Rays did all they could to distance themselves from the Devil Rays stigma they held, but the Trop is the last remnant of it that haunts them.

The only thing Tropicana Field reminds me of is depression. The Trop makes the Oakland Coliseum look like a bastion of hope. The Coliseum has some great history, and is probably easier to get to. Shit, getting to Mustafar is easier than getting to the Trop. The Coliseum is also ruled by a bunch of cats, stray cats run away from the Trop.

Yeah, and that's not even getting into the thunderstorms with Florida having a crazy number of lightning strikes.

I can’t even play mlb the show anymore without laughing my butt off thinking about this thread and just.. the audacity to compare the Tokyo Dome to the absolute dump the Trop is. My friends have been telling me to shut up and stop calling it the Tokyo dome the last few days, I will not be stopping.
Prepare for the madness when the rumble is near

I always saw the Tokyo Dome as Japan’s MSG. So it sounds very insulting to compare it to a baseball field named after orange juice.
