Too many cash ins ruins the moment?

I think most will agree that money in the bank has mostly run its course.

But one thing that has also diluted its effect and importance is too many failed cash ins. It feels like Priest along with some combination of Judgment Day have run down the aisle with the briefcase countless times this year. When you used to see someone running down the aisle with a briefcase and ref it felt like a special moment. When it just becomes all the time it loses the moment. Has anyone done failed cash ins more than Priest?

I despise it. Someone did a comparison of every cash in from 2005 to now, and it's amazing the amount of times the title was essentially hotshotted with zero build, or even worse when someone would win the title and immediately lose it to someone else...so the amount of title reigns under 24 hours is just insane.

Not only that, if you have an active briefcase holder, it ruins any big moment when you have a big match victory because everyone's attention is on the potential of someone cashing in. Just think about any legendary moment being undermined because everyone is staring at the entrance ramp to watch a cash in?

The way I'd fix this is simple; you need to announce 24 hours or more in advance to help make sure there's advertisement for it. Not only that, it doesn't make the cash in cheap. Because when it's a quick cash in, it makes that person look like a coward because they can't win unless their opponent is vulnerable. And if that person fails, then they look like a complete moron. If you want to use this in a heelish way, there's still like a dozen ways to make it work.

It's still exciting but it's a mess and it's everywhere, NXT has a similar thing, so do loads of other promotions now.

I'd just change it to the winner of MITB main events Summerslam

Yeah. My favorite holders have probably been Edge, Miz and Ziggler. Each seemed on “the cusp” of making that mid-card to main event transition but had their own shit going on. Edge with the rated r stuff with Lita, Miz with the A-Ry stuff and Ziggler with the big e and Aj Lee stuff. It felt more like a title in itself.

I guess you could argue the same with Priest (tho I do not think on the cusp) cause of all the judgment day stuff, but as mentioned all the teasings just deflate the whole thing. And he’s not even the leader. They’re playing into he thinks he’s the leader, meanwhile Rhea, Dom and R truth (I said what said) are much hotter acts

The problem with MitB is it doesn't feel like a tool to make a new champion, but a tool to protect the current champion from a clean loss when they lose the title.

The match itself is still great though; and while the execution with the case holder has become a little bit stale, it still does bring some spice of unpredictability.
I'm not ready to say ditch the concept just yet.

One of the worst tropes in the history of wrestling is a wrestler cashing in and the ref just... suddenly forgetting how to function as a human being because the cash in isn't actually going to happen and they have to stupidly stall for time.

"What? What is this? A briefcase? What do you want me to do with it? Cash it in? Are you sure? Wait what is this? A briefcase? What do you want me to do with it? Cash it in? Are you SURE?? But are you REALLY sure? But are you Really REAAAALLLLLYYY sure???"

I think they should take a break from the concept for a few years and then rotate the MITB PPV between the women and the men every year. We don't need two briefcases floating around every year

Two things hurt Theory.

1. He clearly wasn't ready for the Main Event.

2. Both World Titles were held by Roman who wasn't going to lose them no matter who held the briefcase.

A babyface cashing in is the worst because you’re supposed to cheer this person but they took the biggest shortcut possible.

The thing with MITB is it is so limited in what they allow to be done with it.

Like no one has actually had the case go missing or had it taken from them and so they spend months trying desperately to find it.

Or it goes missing and the holder gets a new one drawn up and then the other one magically shows up and so they try to claim 2 contracts but then is challenged by someone else so now we got two cases floating around and when one cashes in the other tries to cash in on them...maybe this is jumping the shark so lets not.

There is no creativity to this thing and so it becomes played out despite the great matches.

I mean, yes, but cashing in and failing on the US title rather than, say, failing on the main belt felt designed to gooberify him.

Here are some things I'd like to see them do with the briefcase:

1. Cash-in attempt. The champ immediately gets themselves disqualified to retain.
2. Mr/Ms. MitB earns a legitimate title shot, but also has the brief case
3. Similar to above, but Mr/Ms. MiTB wins the title without using the briefcase, and has the briefcase as insurance
4. I agree faces should not do cheap cash-ins. A Face winner says, "I'm going to main event Summer Slam"
5. A cash-in during the Royal Rumble! (This backfires because the ref doesn't know what to do and they make the Rumble for the title, they force the champ to enter the Rumble as next entrant)
6. R Truth cashes it in for the 24/7 title (Or better yet R Truth wins the Rumble and challenges for the 24/7 title, to end Nikki Cross' HIStoric (425 day, as of today) reign

It almost feels like they either need to drop the concept or evolve it.

The cash in was cool when Edge did because it had been just sitting there for nearly a year and hadn't been used as a plot device. Him cashing in on Cena was a big moment.

Him dropping it to him 3 weeks later did nothing for him.

It seems ever since its become a forced plot device.
