I've seen all of the episodes of the original series, and I can confirm they were never on there. The videos weren't but they were mentioned in the books. Which book? Stryper came to the local area and "Stryper" was hyped. Rushed home from work. Puts on his striped shirt and yellow and black striped pants. Hours later comes back to the house. "How was the show" get told it was good but "Wasn't more than 40 people there"

A friend of my brother lent him a mixtape of various Metal bands in, I think 1990. One of the songs was 'To Hell with the Devil' and I thought the dual guitar work was really sweet (pun intended). Fast forward 2 or 3 years, Grunge is all the rage, but I thought (still do) that was mostly crap. Remembering Stryper, I took a gamble and bought the 'To Hell with the Devil' album. Lots of great music there. The lyrics, eh, I'm Christian, but they can get really grating at times. I've always been a fan of melodic Metal bands, and Stryper ticks that box for me. Bonus story: My sister is good friends with someone who worked at one of the studios they recorded in the 80s. They weren't involved with the actual production, but met and interacted with the band pretty often. If even one of the stories I've been told is true, their image and gimmick is exaggerated from how they are in private, which fits with chazraps' "interaction" with Michael Sweet.

"How was the show" get told it was good but "Wasn't more than 40 people there" It seems like we might be creating a Mandela Effect in real time here, just because it seems like Stewart should have been a Stryper fan, and I would absolutely swear that they were referenced in the comic books as one of his favorite bands too, but I can't find any actual evidence of that online. Anyway, I'm sure I'd come across Stryper at some point when I was younger just generally listening to hairmetal playlists on Pandora and whatnot, but the first time I remember being really cognizant of them was the scene in Pain & Gain where the Rock is coming up with a cover story trying to buy police guns and sees a Stryper sticker and claims that he does private security for the band, which leads to the clerk and the Rock doing a terrible duet of "Never Again."

They did a cover album a while back that was pretty good:

I don't remember where I learned of the yellow and black attack but I swear that knowledge has been with me since I was a child.

Although I did not know of them before this thread, teenage me enjoyed many genres including Christian metal so I'll have to check them out.
