So I've been working at this digital marketing agency for over 6 years. But lately, no work was coming in and I was told by my manager that they will be laying me off temporarily.
It is an inconvenience but I like this better than being permanently laid off. Under law, they have 13 weeks to call me back to work or else they pay me severance. Best case scenario, they call me back but in the meantime I should keep an eye out for opportunities, though pickings are slim to be honest. Fiancially, I should be okay but the uncertainty of finding a job does scare me.

I got "temporarily laid off" on the 3rd week of working a photography job because of COVID and that they would hire me back once the pandemic was over. Seeing how this was May of 2020... Yeah that was not going to happen anytime soon. I was not going to sit and do nothing and HOPE for them to bring me back because no one had any idea how long the pandemic would last. So I just went and found something else. About a week after finding something else (that paid way more), they told me "yeah we're not bringing you back". So me not waiting was the right call.
Sounds like you at least got a safety net if things go sour but yeah hope it turns around.

Consider yourself lucky, my entire shirt got the axe right before the holidays, putting me in the “F’d in the A” position financially. Things have been rough tryna get back on the horse, but I’m stubborn and will figure something out. Wishing you well on any upcoming opportunities for real
