No doubt that these two guys are the two GOATs when it comes to Mexican wrestlers. I was always an Eddie guy. He was the first heel I cheered for. I was always mad as hell when Rey would get the better of him in 05 and resented him for it. Over the years though I learned to respect Rey (besides the fact that he’s a deadbeat father).

Whilst both legends in Mexican wrestling, neither were actually Mexican (if where they are billed from is accurate). Eddie was El Paso, Texas and Rey is San Diego, California.
If picking who I liked most between the two, it’s a close run thing in terms of in ring work, but Eddie made me laugh more with his character work so he wins.

Yep. Correct answer. Sure he didn't have widespread appeal, but he was the native hero and is still revered in Mexico today.

In Mexico it’s Rey, to American fans it’s close but Eddie may edge him.
For my money it’s Rey. That dude is Lucha Libre personified.

Yeah it'd be more accurate to call them Mexican American.

They’re both American, if we’re talking GOATS of WWE and we’re including both of them it’s Rey based on longevity.

Rey changed the game a lot more than Eddie. I absolutely love Eddie's work, I think once he dialled into his best character and voice for promos he was a phenomenal total package, his in-ring work especially some of the creativity of his character spots the last 4 years of his career was brilliant and even if he's influenced/been aped by a lot of modern guys I think a lot of them could take more cues from him on how to blend charisma with workrate, he injected plenty of personality into everything he did in the ring he never looked like he was just going through the motions.
But all that said, Rey's the guy who got lucha into the USA, who made it possible for such small guys to not just be in a major company but be treated as viable stars, he influenced just as many if not more people in-ring, and he completely changed the entire idea of what a high flyer was in American wrestling. He's the biggest ever luchador outside of Mexico and his impact on the business is much much greater, to the point that I'd say without Rey Mysterio being SO revolutionary in WCW and to a lesser extent WWE, Eddie never gets his WWE Title run.

Arguable I guess, but Rey has been around WWE almost 20 years at this point with a couple years off and has played a prominent role. Eddies rn was great but short, and you can’t discount what Rey’s done

The luchadors were honestly one of the most exciting parts of the Monday Night Wars and Rey was at the head of that. Even with all the stuff going on with the attitude era, the NWO and everything else, I knew that when the luchadors came out, I was about to witness something special.

El Santo is a lot like The Rock, except the Rock doesn't have a statue in his hometown... and I don't think he'll be so synonymous with his country's culture that there will still be tributes/references to him in American focused movies 40 years after his death.
