Yeah, but it's no Freedom Rock WELL TURN IT UP, MAN! GOING TO JAAAAAAAIL. also I guess we better get Pure Moods here... and complete the set here... I still put this into the CD player now and then. Because nothing says “relaxing music” like the theme from The Exorcist. Here’s an ad for the lesser-known Rockin’ USA, featuring, um, Men at Work. And Londonbeat. I love how they advertise that all these songs are by the original artists and the first one we hear is California Girls … by David Lee Roth. I’m sure the cover was much cheaper to license, and maybe it fits better with the “rock” theme, but still. Seeing these ads makes me sad that Time Life shut down last year. Anytime I was channel surfing, I stopped immediately when I heard, “the following is a paid advertisement for Time Life’s music collection.” Bloomberg TV aired a mini-marathon of them on Saturday night.

Yeah, but it's no Freedom Rock WELL TURN IT UP, MAN! I've often found that most of these compilations had at least one song that made you wonder: "Why is THAT song on here?" In this case, it was "Love Train" by the O-Jays. I like the song, sure, but what does it have to do with the other songs besides the spirit of love. It was just very out of place. BTW, that album is about $30 used nowadays-much more than most of the other old compilations, probably due to the commercial's popularity

Don't forget the fabled 70's Preservation Society.

I forget the name. But there was a compilation of 70s mellow gold type stuff. And they played the commercial ad nauseam. I had that damn thing memorized. It featured: "Seasons in the Sun" by Terry Jacks "Rock Me Gently" by Andy Kim Chevy Van" by Sammy John "The Night Chicago Died" by Paper Lace And that’s all I remember. Mi can almost remember the order the clips of the songs they played

Basically, “punk” to these producers means “anything slightly harder than the Lawrence Welk Show.”

Is this what Corey Graves listens to? I choose to believe so Corey Graves makes Donny Osmond look like Henry Rollins.

Also, don’t sleep on that Pure Moods CD; “Lily Was Here” by Candy Dulfer is a classic.
