Considering the length of this title reign and all that's been built around it over 3+ years, WrestleMania feels like the place they would want as the natural end game.
Does it need to be at WM (not necessarily this year) or would any time give just as much of a payoff as an ending?

In this specific instance it would probably be a little underwhelming, but it would be beneficial in the long run to show that important things can happen during the other 11 months of the year.

I'd be fine with it ending tonight through Knight being RKOed on top of AJ and getting a fluke pin, I just want it to the hell over with.

I think it’ll be anticlimactic no matter where or when it happens at this point

Drew, Sami and Jey would have been great times to end it and they were not at WrestleMania so no.

I'm at the point where I don't care anymore.
If HHH swerves the world tonight, gives Randy the shock win and makes Cody/Orton the title match at Mania, fine. That way, Rock gets his one-on-one and the fans get to see Cody finish the story.
We were all brought up to believe that stats don't really matter in WWE, but this championship reign counteracts that at every turn. Every milestone he passes gets way less exciting and I couldn't care less if he surpasses Hogan.
At least with Gunther's reign, there's a legit excitement around every match (even against Miz, IMO). Roman had that aura and lost it, and it's getting to the point where I feel others aren't properly getting over because of it.

The only way that it ends anywhere other than Mania is if it’s revealed that Roman is part of Vince’s sex cult.
That said: just end it. Should have ended it in Montreal.

No. Summerslam would be a great ending point and it's the biggest PLE of the summer. I'm having fun with his run so I'm taking it all in

No? Remember all the people who were absolutely praying for Finn or Sami to end it at nowhere PPVs?

There have been 4 or 5 non-Mania occasions that would have felt huge if he lost so overall it didn't have to be Mania but now just weeks away from the 40th Wrestlemania surely that's when you do it to make it hopefully as iconic as possible.
It would be anticlimactic if it ended tonight on a show that's mostly about the Rumble matches and against opponents all in their 40s, two of which have been world champ a bunch. Ideally the person who beats him is someone who hasn't been world champion yet and will be a main eventer for at least another 3-5 years. Cody is obviously the top pick but Jey could fit too or Gunther if he wasn't also a heel.
That's why even if the story was great Sami being the person to beat him would have felt a bit strange. To give that huge of a rub to a guy who just like a year or two earlier was almost in a managerial role and talking about winding down in-ring due to wear and tear seems like a bit of a risk that you wouldn't get as much juice out of him afterwards.

It’s gotta be at Mania.
If Roman retains, maybe I could see SummerSlam, depending where it’s at, cause they want him to break hogans record

While I am cool with Wrestlemania being the most important show, it should not be the ONLY important show and to be honest it really feels that way these days, particularly with all these long reigns. Even the Royal Rumble, one of the big 4 is ultimately about Wrestlemania. Don't get me wrong, I love a rumble match but the normal matches on the card are almost always filler. Does anyone think for a minute Roman is losing tonight?
Part of what has made Gunther's reign much more exciting are that he has put on bangers in a large variety of matches and every opponent has felt like they could be the one to finally take him down. Similar to when Rusev went on that tear as US champ and they were building people up to challenge him, they've been doing that with Gunther. Meanwhile, Roman's matches have been as paint by numbers as they get in most cases. Some of his opponents have managed to elevate the matches but lol Roman wins by cheating has become as much of a trope as a main character dying in a Joss Whedon show/movie.

I think it depends more on who ends it rather than where it happens. It needs to be Cody imo. The Rock, even at Mania, would just be a waste of several years.

No, saving literally everything for Mania is one of the biggest issues with stagnation the WWE has.
There are multiple times the crowd would have absolutely been 100% behind Roman losing it and most of them weren't manias.
