"We want to thank Scott D'Amore for his vital role in the company's growth, his passion, his great talent, and his many years of dedication to TNA. Also, we're going a different direction now so Scott is fired."

Maybe one of the most tone deaf statements I’ve ever read. Jesus Christ. If they don’t give raises to everybody in the company to help boost morale I’d be shocked. Because this is how you gut your company from the inside out. And hey, then that’ll open up developing new revenue streams!!

Leverage the resources, add more value, revenue streams, business model...dude only forgot to throw in "synergy", and we'd have had a Corp Speak Bingo.

...if true, that's. Huh? What even is Anthem's brand identity? What even is the clash with having an old reliable face on it? There's a lot in the news and the world that would make this believable, but at a glance it seems like nonsense. It's the most c-suite thing in the world to really care about your 'brand identity' when nobody has any idea what or who you are. They're 'known' for owning a couple B-tier sports networks in the US and Canada, a wrestling company they've historically not been looked kindly on by its fans, and they recently bought women's MMA promotion Invicta, which like sure neat, but they aren't intrinsic to Invicta's identity either. They're a company that buys things that already exist, they aren't on the radar of anybody who doesn't like a thing they bought enough to see its Wikipedia page. Unless TNA as a show is presenting something that's super not what they want to be a part of, it's pure nonsense.

"This move is intended to further integrate TNA Wrestling into the Entertainment Group of Anthem Sports & Entertainment as we work to leverage the resources of the entire company to add more value in areas such as production, distribution, marketing, viewership, customer acquisition, digital revenue streams, ad sales and sponsorships, and digital tech operations, among others."
Let's assume this isn't obvious bullshit. Let's assume we REALLY believe the goal is to integrate the resources of the entire company.
HOW? What is the precise mechanism by which firing D'Amore better integrates anything with anything?

Not to mention that taken at its word, it's a confession that they spent seven years owning the company but not integrating or leveraging the shit they had into helping their investment grow properly, and that after being left to fend for themselves and rebuild from near-zero, D'Amore's work has brought it up to a level of worth where they're willing to finally swoop in to integrate things now that it's beneficial for them to.

Yeah leadership experience in areas except the one that actually matters day to day. Jesus Christ is 2024 going to be the year of tone deafness ?

Feels like the strangest thing I've seen in wrestling in a while, none of the other bits of news lately have surprised me as much as this which is saying something given how mental everything's been across so many companies.
If it's not based on something he's done then genuinely...wtf? Their whole rebrand seemed very centred around him, he'd been getting a lot of praise and it sounds like he was instrumental in the potential partnership with WWE too. I watched his promo where he announced TNA was back and I think if you told me he'd be gone a few weeks later I'd never have believed you unless he'd...done a Vince or something. If this whole thing is just based on vision then it's utterly bizarre and feels like a hell of a risk to put it really mildly. The roster seem to love him too.

Basically it sounds like even after Dixie left, he still dixied. This is something you'd expect from those olden days.

OK, unless there's actually something Scott did, TK would be a grade a dumbass not to hire him to manage ROH

Between this, the Cody stuff over in WWE, and several weeks of layoffs in the video game and tech world, 2024 has already been an amazing year for clueless executives reaping the rewards generated by their employees and then meddling to the point where they break what was working and alienate the trust of their customers and remaining employees.

Scott being fired seems like it can be a big mistake for TNA. I think a lot of wrestlers had a good relationship with him and they remained loyal to that company because of Scott

Assuming that he didn’t do anything nefarious this is big Jim Herd energy. I had typed out a whole long angry response to this news, and how "bullshit lawyer-speak" the announcement was. How if you dug deeper into the wording it made no sense. And how absurd the statement by the new president is....but the above comment sums it up better than my tirade would have.
