I remember a story from one of Bobby Heenan's books that happened early in his career where he was playing cribbage with some of the wrestlers, some heels and some babyfaces and a fan walked by and one of the faces, who wanted to keep kayfabe, picked up the cribbage board and hit Heenan over the head with it. Another Heenan story: he and Da Crusher were friends so they would call each other. So one time Crusher had company over and to keep up kayfabe, Crusher ends the call with: "YA WEASEL HOW'D YOU GET THIS NUMBER?! DON'T CALL HERE NO MORE!!" Both had a chuckle with that one.

Bradshaw f-ed around and found out, it looks like. I mean wasn't Brawl 4 All a giant on screen rib at Bradshaw's expense because of how much of a "fake tough guy" he was to everyone? If that is the case, then it failed because Bradshaw did make the final

Dunno if this counts as backstage but at a particular British Indy show in the early 2000s, the ring didn't show up (there's lots of conjecture why, I'd get myself in trouble for suggesting that ALEX SHANE SABOTAGED IT), but in attendance was Ted Robbins, an actor and comedian who played the villain in a popular sitcom of the time (Phoenix Nights for the fellow Brits) and he apparently got up and did a stand up routine while everyone was stalling for time. if this was at King Georges Hall in Blackburn, I may have been in the audience.

New Jack told a Smoky Mountain Wrestling story that I really liked, and it at least in part explains why he always seemed to like Ricky Morton.
Seeing that some of the guys were making most of their money from gimmick sales, Jack had some photos printed. He was looking at them in the back and said something like, “I don’t know why I got these. These people hate my ass, they ain’t gonna buy my pictures.”
Ricky Morton said, “Let me see that, Jack,” and proceeds to draw a circle around Jack’s face and put a slash through it. He then said, “Let me sell THESE at my table. I’ll even sign it for ‘em, Ricky Morton, Rock and Roll Express. They’ll buy ‘em and you’ll know it. And I’ll have your money for you.”
Jack figured he had nothing to lose and agreed. As Jack put it, “He sold every f***in’ one of them pictures and when I came out for our match, the people were holding them up, yelling (n word)!”
Jack even sold it for the crowd, and when he got to the back, Ricky gave him his money and didn’t try to take a cut.
I better understand the photo I saw several years ago of a then current New Jack and Ricky Morton, which Jack captioned, “My true muthaf***a, Ricky Morton.”

Lance Storm told the story where after Juventud was arrested in Australia after going on a drug fuelled escapade WCW released him from his contract. They announced on their website he was fired and put his real name instead of his wrestler name. Only they put Chavo Guerreros real name instead. Eddie then called up Chavo freaking out thinking Chavo was on drugs. Another Juventud one but this one isn't that funny. He was playing a rib in a parking lot that he was going to run over Brad Armstrong. Only Juvi was so high that actually did end up running over Brad. The second story is pure pro wrestling

Most of them are bullshit. Pretty much. Bob Holly and Bart Gunn both said that JR flat out convinced everybody that Dr Death would win and this would set him to feud with Austin to the point both said when Bart beat Doc, Doc asked if the office would be upset since they already paid him the prize money for winning before the tournament. They also mentioned how Doc ended up getting heat cause it was clear that while fights were legit they were rigging it for Doc to win.

I’ve always thought that if they really wanted to rig it for Doc to win, they shouldn’t have had everyone wear gloves. Doc was a wrestler, not a striker.

I'll go with the non-rib rib double reverso that no matter if it is Bruce or Cornette telling it, just cracks me up. Back when Bulldog was feuding with HBK for the title and they ran the angle of Diana and HBK possibly being an item while she is married to Davey. Backstage, Cornette is sitting in an office when Bulldog and Owen (two of the biggest ribbers on the roster at the time), bring a corded phone into the room and tell James that Stu is on the phone and wants to talk to someone in the office as he doesn't like this angle and it is making his daughter look bad. So Cornette is talking on the phone to Stu and thinking it is Bruce Prichard who does the best Stu Hart impression ever. Cornette plays along for a bit and then starts to shit talk Bruce. He is the one booking this angle and he goes to these sex clubs, is a huge pervert, etc. Bulldog and Owen are losing their minds at this and Cornette just keeps ratcheting it up and can't believe that Bruce hasn't lost it on the other end. He tells 'Stu' goodbye and as he is hanging up the phone, Bruce Prichard walks into the office from the other side door and Cornette realizes that he was in fact talking to the real Stu Hart. Bruce asks what is going on and Cornette says, "Oh nothing Bruce, but I'm pretty sure I just told Stu Hart you are a pervert." "Stu: Eh so I turned on Raw last night and I was wondering why you guys was making Diana out to be such a whore."

When Ozzy Osbourne was the guest host of Raw, he suppose to get into it with Jericho, Jericho would walk off and Ozzy was supposed to say “Who was that wanker?” Ozzy refused, saying there’s no way he could say that on television. Vince insisted. Ozzy stood firm he couldn’t say that. So the line was changed. Jericho said you know you’ve gone too far when Ozzy thinks something is inappropriate”

I forgot who told the story but I remember El Gigante telling the person travelling with him to not tell people that he was a giant.

I remember William Regal telling a story that He and Sheamus were checking in to a hotel... the worker said something like saying they were good with accents and claimed Regal was clearly from Ireland...
Regal said something like yes and this gentleman is from England... I would request that we not be in adjoining rooms due to the historical issues between our countries.
The person behind the counter said of course and then gave Sheamus a massive Stinkeye...

Yep, think that's the one then yeah I was in the audience for it, it took an hour to an hour and a half before they cancelled the show, Jake Roberts DDT'd the promoter on the stage as part of the give them something to remember of the show other than the missing ring.

Killed indys over here for a while IIRC. I think it picked up again mid 2000s when TWC did International Showdown etc. Strangely FWA always survived and never had issues with rings or anything...
