"Ha ha, a white guy joining a black militant faction!" HAD to have been part of the thinking there. You can't tell me Russo wasn't slapping his leg over that, even if there were other benefits to Owen being paired with them. Crush and PG-13 were part of the original Nation. You’re trying to put logic into one of Vince Russo’s booking decisions?

The fact that the Nation pretty much dropped the militant black aspect of their act almost immediately upon The Rock ousting Faarooq and allowing Owen to become co-leader makes the blackface in D-X's Nation parody even more of a dumb idea than it already was.

Faarooq was literally addicted to recruiting white guys.

Faarooq was literally addicted to recruiting white guys. Faarooq wasn't a part of the Nation when Owen joined.

Who cares why, if he wasn't a part of The Nation we never would have got this: {Spoiler}

He wasn't doing anything else, he added some flavor to the group, and he could be counted on to deliver a great match when the rest of them couldn't.
I'm still kind of amazed some people think he was on track for a world title run after the Blue Blazer gimmick ran its course. Whatever Vince told him, seems clear that wasn't in the cards.

Because he was the BlackHart and Vince thought it would be funny. Anytime there’s a random “why?” Question the answer is always “because Vince”
