Didn't the original NWO/WCW story from 96-99 end up with Vincent and Stevie Ray feuding over the rights to leadership of the B team while the big names gradually stopped repping the group/turned face/got injured?
Its quite an oddity and I'll make another thread.
Basically the new nWo was initially portrayed as more ruthless and violent than before to a point of harming David Flair and making it personal with new President Ric Flair after Nature Boy beat Bischoff to take the spot and relegated Eric to odd jobs around the building.
Hogan and Flair is the main focus and culminates with the double turn at Uncensored with Flair cheating to beat Hogan and somehow that making him a Heel because he wanted to be a 14x World Champion.
Hogan goes after Flair, but so does Diamond Dallas Page and Sting.
This leads to a Fatal Four Way at Spring Stampede where DDP beat Flair to win the belt. Hogan, however was injured and taken out for months while recovering from the injury
Meanwhile Kevin Nash makes a backdoor deal with Ric and is caught by Hulk, which makes Hulk uncertain with the relationship.
From there with Hulk out, the nWo just kinda fades. Theres no real conclusion to it and when Hulk returned in July, while he did feud with Nash, the nWo wasn't really a thing and Bischoff was out the door that time frame.
On a side note, I just started watching Thunder 2000 and boy does nWo 2000 make no sense. Yes its Hall and Nash and Bret was an associate of theres but the Harris Brothers and Jeff Jarrett just drags it down. Total mismatch in group personnel. A far cry from Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and Syxx.
What's wild about that arc is that the Vince Russo and Ed Ferrera signing by WCW lead to all these strange happenings by the Powers that Be. Eventually its revealed that Bret Hart, Jeff Jarret, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash were the new nWo under the leadership of the Powers that Be feuding with the traditionalists of wrestling, Terry Funk, Arn Anderson and Paul Orndorff.
But Russo gets sent home in Janaury 2000 and Bret gets concused. This results in a split and feud between Nash/Hall vs Jarrett/Harris Twins which plays out before the whole thing gets rebooted with the New Blood instead.
Then randomly after Bischoff leaves again that stable kinda comes back for a minute.
