I read the whole thread to try to figure this out but did not see it explained. Why was there a gigantic pane of glass on the outside of the ring? I have never seen any match that required a pane of glass to be sitting outside of the ring? Who set it up and what was the rationale for why it was there? Did Darby put it there just so he could throw himself into it?

There were 3 of them under the ring, Darby and one of Sting's sons set one up across the chairs on the outside (I believe on camera) along with one on the outside and another was set up in the corner of the ring. Rationale would be he was going to repeat the spot he used on Jeff Hardy in the Owen Hart tournament, he hit his opponent on that occasion, in this one his opponent was dragged out of the way, therefore, splat.

The glass was pulled out from under the ring early in the match (on camera) and the set up with the chairs for what eventually became Darby’s spot was also on camera. Then…yes….*splat*
