I don't really play many video games, and the ones that I do are games that I've already played a million times and/or are sports games, so I often will mute the game I'm playing and instead listen to something else, whether it be music, podcasts, Youtube videos, etc. Anyway, so in, like, 2013-2014, I played a good bit of Banjo-Kazooie (on the Xbox 360) and the remastered version of Final Fantasy X. While playing Banjo-Kazooie, I listened to a lot of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Kiss" album, and while playing FFX, I listened to the Matt Pond album "The Lives Inside the Lines in Your Hand," so now those games and albums are linked in my mind. I run into this with Chrono Trigger. I had a Sega Genesis so I'd only ever gotten to play Chrono Trigger with my friend. Finally, in early 98 he lent me his SNES so I could play it through. I'd just gotten my first CD player for Christmas and owned 4 cds. I bought Aqua's first album. Excited to have something new to play, I played it almost constantly for a while which just so happened to coincide with playing Chrono Trigger. I have played Chrono Trigger since while listening to the game's soundtrack but often if I play Chrono Trigger it reminds me of Aqua. Similarly, certain Aqua songs bring Chrono Trigger rushing back to my mind. Final Fantasy 1 and Ramones-Rocket to Russia Crystalis and Dk-Frankenchrist Phantasy Star II and Conan the Barbarian Movie Score Realized years ago I rarely if ever played a video game at home with the sound on. Woiuld turn it off and toss a record/cassette/cd onto the stereo. And a none music one. Street Fighter II Special Champion Edition on the Sega Genesis and fortune cookies. Right after that game came out the gas station/corner store in my area got sold to a Asian family. Who kept a plastic jar on the counter full of individually wrapped fortune cookies. Was 5 or 6 for a dollar. I would stoop there every day buy a few bucks of themm on my way home then eat them while playing SFII. I eat a fortune cookie now and Guiles theme starts playing in my head.

The Rolling Stones’ song ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ = McDonald’s Chicken Nuggets
In high school I used to drive to McD’s after school, pick up a six pack of nuggets, and sit in my car in the park and eat them. For some reason, Sympathy for the Devil kept coming on the radio while I was eating. Forty years later I still associate that song with that taste.

The old "EA Games...Challenge Everything" intro screen I'll forever associate with the Medal of Honor game series since my friends and I played those games to the point of exhaustion.
Lavender scented candles I'll forever associate with an ex-gf who burned those things like she had stock in the company.

The first time I started exploring my queerness was at university, which is also where I started smoking because it was easier to talk to people in the smoking area rather than in the club and middle middle middle long story short I associate smoker's breath, or someone who just smells of having smoked, with gay sex. You're welcome

It's not exactly "weird" to associate two subjects when they actually appeared together in advertisements. The entire point was for companies to take advantage and draw in each others' customers.

I first read The Lord of the Rings back when radio stations were playing “Sowing the Seeds of Love” every 30 minutes, so that song became the soundtrack of those books for me.

Smoker's tend to take care of each other, not always gay sex, but evidentially, sometimes.

I have had the 'please can I borrow a cigarette' moment with people who speak no English
