R-Truth's confusion gimmick - origin?

When and how did this start?

I remember him saying "Green Bay, Wisconsin, what's up?" while being in Milwaukee back in 2011 or so, which I believe was an honest mistake. He's not the first person to have done something similar. He was also a face at the time and this did him no favors in that arena.

Was that the embryo of his current gimmick where he mixes everything up or did this start much much later and does not have anything to do with that mess-up? 

Also, he should do this again next time WWE is in Milwaukee.

It probably started with his heel turn in 2011, where it did come off like he'd literally gone insane. And not in the cuddly funny way that it would become when he went back babyface, the unhinged might shank you in an alleyway for crack kind of way.

Things started going sideways in the summer of 2009 when he debuted the "Pretty Ricky" gimmick, but that was short-lived and forgotten. It wasn't until his 2011 heel turn and the imaginary "Little Jimmy" character that they leaned all the way into R-Truth being mentally unstable and they haven't looked back since.

I think it really started rolling when he accidentally said he had arachnophobia instead of acrophobia when talking about being in a ladder match then immediately recovered by saying the briefcase was full of spiders. Kind of an obvious mistake that instantly led to a funny bit.

After the Total Divas episode where he talked about how a group of stray cats that hunted him down I'm not sure how much is a gimmick VS him just turning himself up to 11.

I think it's even he turned heel on Morrison in London and started smoking. He then later had the Cena feud and started talking to invisible children. I think my timeline is right.

It's a testament to Truth that any of what he's done for about the last 12-13 years has not only worked, but at times been the most entertaining thing on the show.

Hell, being paired with Truth is the best version of Carmella that we've ever seen

It was also in the UK after the smoking ban. I don't know how they got away with it.

Didn't that segment start because R-Truth needed a waterbreak in a match a week or so before and got "heat" for it?

And WWE then did that weird Morrison and Truth segment where Morrison ragged on Truth and Truth started smoking and then beat up Morrison.

And that kinda developed intro R-Truth being unhinged and calling the fans "lil Jimmys" which then transitioned to him being full out crazy.
