Great way to end his run. Losing wouldn’t have added anything to the Bucks.

Normally a legend should do the honors and take the pin. But it's the Young Bucks they're over as hell and IMO they didn't need the win. So Sting winning made me giddy as a school kid.

I do think going out on your back thing is more A) leaving a territory in the old days B) active retirement like Foley to HHH where its his regular career. Otherwise lets just have something nice for the fans. For the poll I kinda wish Darby Allen was allowed to pick his partner or at least have a bye all the way to the finals with a partner of his choosing

Going out on your back should only be done if it makes sense. No point in doing things if the only reason is "that's what you do".

Going out on your back should only be done if it makes sense. No point in doing things if the only reason is "that's what you do". Like, I know Corbin/Angle was a big talking point before this weekend because Darby referenced it without saying as much but what did it actually do for Baron Corbin? 5 years later, the only thing he's gotten out of it was Drew McIntyre kicking out of his finisher and basically becoming an NXT mainstay for some reason. There was no real reason to do it if there wasn't going to be a benefit from doing it. At least with HBK/Flair and Taker/HBK, those lead to things either at the next PPV (Batista feuding with Michaels getting revenge on Flair's behalf) or the next year (HHH/Taker and the matches after that). Corbin retired a several time champion and basically was Austin Theory before Austin Theory got a developmental deal. If you don't plan on having Darby get revenge on the Bucks for retiring Sting, then you might as well have Sting win and take advantage of the slow build for the tag division they've been doing surrounding all of this.

Sting already endured so much nonsense, from the trope of all of his friends turning on him to the dying days of WCW to TNA at its most Russoriffic to his WWE run being everything he once said he feared about going to WWE. That his AEW run was a feel-good undefeated tour and ended with Sting victorious and loved by his tag partner, his family, the roster, and the crowd was the best possible way to wrap things up. It's the kind of validation that Sting always deserved and yet was always denied.

In hindsight, I'm glad Sting went out with a win.

Sometimes, ending the show on heat for the sake of it when the situation doesn't really call for that isn't the best idea. Glad AEW agreed with that and let Sting go out on a high note.

Sting ended AEW with a record of 28-0 Forever Undefeated in AEW. The perfect end to the career of the Stinger.
