I'm so surprised we got contract details (assuming it's accurate). Those numbers typically stay close to the vest Maybe to flex, honestly

We also have to remember, it’s Tokyo Sport talking about it so we should take it with a lot of sport. Would be basically the equivalent of Pro Wrestling Illustrated talking about contracts.
If true, though, he’s being paid a year the same as most NBA/NFL bench players so if people are freaking out about that a) we’re not used to it as fans and b) basically says people across both rosters have been substantially underpaid for years.

Meltzer said in the newsletter that the 4.5 million per is “not accurate at all. The real number is considerably lower.”

Just to use this thread for this as well,
Kenny said on a twitch stream last night that he just recently had to have another emergency procedure so he's still a long ways from being back.
Also, judging by the New Japan promo he just cut and social media hints, when Jack Perry comes back he will be joining the new Elite

That is no shade toward Jack but The Elite as the name implies was created with the idea that the small group of friends was The Elite of wrestling .Okada fits the mold.l of being the top of the wrestling world and is a very close friends of the bucks

Haven't the Bucks known Jack since he was very young?

Not sure what to think about this team-up and Okada's alignment. I hope it goes well but we will see. Part of me thinks he won't really hit the ground running until he becomes that big huge mega babyface but I commend him and the Bucks for this because hey at the very least it's creative. That's what I'm enjoying about the current Bucks. Yeah they can go in the ring but the creativity is what sticks out the most to me.

Although Okada is absolutely a generational talent, I can imagine that the move to weekly American TV is going to be a huge adjustment for him. More so than it was for Ospreay or White. Better to do that while his good friends are there to support him and help him find his feet than instantly drop him in the deep end.
And I trust the Bucks to not over shadow Okada. They're going to have to talk for him I imagine, but they're used to being in stables where the spotlight is shared. Plus he's their boy, so I think they'll do everything they can to make Okada the star he is.

Jack just joined Bullet Club/House of Torture. Unless the Elite re-associate themselves with BC, I can't see that happening.

Post-Bullet Club Elite has always been a group of guys who ride together more than a group with a specific leader man calling shots. I doubt we're going to see Okada become some backseat goon here. The Bucks are real good about making people they respect look good, and in Okada they have a guy who they kind of owe a ot of their career upswing to, since them being friends fifteen years ago when he was in TNA led to them getting that New Japan shot, and no Bullet Club for the Bucks means probably no longer any Bucks.
Also it's just hard to imagine any living human being outright overshadowing Kazuchika Okada like that. He is not a man who exactly fades into the background.

The Bucks and Okada have been tight since Okada's excursion days in TNA when Matthew and Nicholas Jackson were Max and Jeremy Buck of Generation Me. That's a 13+ year friendship. They're going to do everything to make him look like the star he is. I think being a heel will also go a long way towards freshening up his presentation, as even Big Babyface Megastar of NJPW Okada had his dickish moments, especially the past couple of years. I think he also really enjoyed playing the heel in NOAH against Kaito Kiyomiya.

CM Punk could have cost AEW The Elite and by that Okada, while Punk would have been fired later anyway because Jack told him to cry him a river

Yet again, the main theme of AEW is friendship!

OMG I just realized if Trent turns heel Okada can reunite with good ol' Shitty Greg.

So fantasy booking this off of the idea of the Elite re-associating with Bullet Club. If that happened in Japan, Okada joining Bullet Club would've almost been like Hogan joining the nWo.

I remain convinced they couldn't have done this much better. The Bucks are clearly pretty selfless at this point, no chance they'll want to do anything that doesn't make Okada look great, the fact he's their friend is only going to help there and the way he was brought in immediately displayed him as the muscle of the group, the guy who's going to win matches for them when they team. Adjusting to a new company and everything is going to made so much easier by being with the guys who literally helped form the company and the language barrier is going to be helped massively by the fact the Bucks are getting on the mic more than they have in forever and can do the talking for him. His heel turn itself gives him an insane amount of freshness and I think actually joining the Elite was such a great touch, I didn't see many people call that, even those who thought he could end up being the Bucks Final Boss. They set up so much for him straight away in the space of about 5 minutes too, OC, Hangman, Kenny (fingers crossed he makes a full recovery), Kingston, Penta, Pac, Fenix or Ibushi could all have a big match with him as soon as, on the basis of what went down, and it would make storyline sense. If he beats Eddie he'll look amazing with 3 belts too right off the bat. Would have been so easy to just have him make the save for OC, Trent and Chuck or just confront a main event guy as a face but would have been nowhere near as exciting as what they've done.
