Now we all know that Rocky overshadows everyone star power wise, but I personally think his cousin is the best character. Tribal chief up until recently felt like a mob boss you would see in movies like Goodfellas, Scarface or Godfather. Another character I liked was Eddie. Lying cheating stealing former addict that won the hearts of millions

Dark horse pick, Ultimate Warrior.
Everything about him embodies the insanity of pro wrestling, and if you ask a non-fan to draw a pro wrestler, you’re going to get something very close to Warrior.

Undertaker is probably the greatest gimmick creation ever in wrestling but gimmick and character are not exactly the same so for greatest character I'd probably go either 96-01 Austin or 85-91 Macho Man.
It was probably too short to call it greatest ever but Feb-Apr 2003 Rock will always be the most entertaining wrestling character to me.

Shane McMahon. Debut to end of invasion. Was decades ahead of his time. Hes basically Kendell Roy from Succession. Spoilers ahead.
Nepo baby of the monster that runs the family business. Wants his Dad's love and respect. Gets in over his head trying to prove himself. Competes with his sibling to take over. Buys a rival company from under is Dad. Tries to use it to force a takeover. Ultimatley fails. Never achieves what he thought was his birthright. Has to watch from the outside as his brother in law runs things.
He's the type of charachter that should win emmys not slammies.

Undertaker, possibly Kane for making everything they did with that character work some how.

I've really been enjoying rewatching Triple H's career recently so I would say he is up there.

Stone Cold became the working class power fantasy. It wasn't the most outlandish character, but damn if it didn't resonate with a ton of people.

I can't decide between Dusty, Austin and Mr. McMahon, but it's one of those three for me. One tier below I'd put Savage, the Million Dollar Man, the Rock, Angle and Mick Foley's many personalities.

From a pure character standpoint, that is not really based on someone's personality, it's Undertaker. n I get why people point to Steve Austin, but the reality is, that character is just based on him and he could (and has) taken a version of it anywhere.

John Cena because he personally entertained me the most. That’s my most important criteria.

Austin. Undertaker was best gimmick. Austin was the cool anti-hero that brought WWE back to mainstream popularity.

If you’re taking gimmicks out of the equation, I was very torn between Hogan and Savage, but I’m going to have to go with Savage.
