The Patriots finalized their 53-man roster on Tuesday, and yes, it's as bad as you imagined, but one of the most notable points about the 2024 Patriots is that it is a stinging indictment of the final few years of Bill Belichick's drafting.
From Tom Brady's departure prior to the 2020 NFL Draft to last year's final Belichick draft class, the Patriots selected 40 players. Before this exercise truly begins, it's worth mentioning that only players from the 2020 class are currently eligible for a second contract, meaning the classes from 2021 through 2023 are on their rookie deals.
Of those 40 players, 14 made the Patriots' 53-man roster, with 5 on NFI, IR, or PUP. That's 35 percent, meaning 65 percent of the players drafted by Belichick in the last four years weren't even good enough to make what is arguably the worst roster in football.
Here's how it breaks down by class:

The steelers have had three HC’s since 1969(the Apollo space programme was still going) and it appears impossible to get fired. Yet Tomlin has decided “f*** it I want to spend more time with my family.” |
