There have been a few of these threads but I didn't want to bump one from years ago. Thoughts?
It's always the same three for me
Paul Orndorff. I feel like heel Mr Wonderful would have thrived right in the prime of Hulkamania and in the New Generation Era. Imagine Hogan v Orndorff at Mania 7 instead of Slaughter.
Sean Waltman in the mid-2000s. He seemed totally out of place to me in 99-01 and could easily have fit in with the Smackdown Six and onwards.
Michelle McCool today. I've always liked her and feel if given the same opportunities today's women are, she could thrive. She did the most and then some with the very little time the women got back then.

I cannot express enough how much I want Bob Backlund in two places 1. Peak ECW, refusing to use weapons and just suplexing fools 2. In early ROH against young technical guys

In a universe where Goldberg doesn’t kick Bret Hart and Bret and Vince make up, it could’ve been the Smackdown 7 in 2002-03.

Obvious one is Bruiser Brody in mid 90s ECW complete with swinging the chain through the crowd and kicking the shit out of the ECW roster. Paul would definitely make sure that Brody got paid though. LMAO
Vader as todays final boss

Bobby the Brain, at his prime, in the attitude era. Given a lot more reign to raunch it up on the mic, I’m Sure he’d have produced some memorable moments.

NJPW 2010 thru about 2022 and prime era Terry Gordy.
Or hell a clean Eddie Gilbert in either WCW or WWF from 96 thru about 2000.

Bret Hart as the investor who buys into the WWF would have been a great route. Have Bret beat Vince at Royal Rumble and face Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania X-8 who Vince brings back to put Bret away once and for all. Perhaps the two shake hands and take Vince out after signaling both as babyfaces and over the next decade they team up once in a while and Bret gets feuds with Benoit, Angle, Eddie, Batista, Orton, Cena, Taker once more, Lesnar, Triple H, and Jericho.

I’d love to see Cody in turn of the century 1900s or some other time period where there is limited to no footage.

Eddie from 2006-2010 or today’s era. Imagine the fueds he couldn’t had with HBK, Taker, Main Event Cena, Orton, Main Event Edge, CM Punk, The Miz, Rollins, Reigns, KO, AJ, Finn

Ricky Steamboat in the WWF, circa 2000. Imagine what he could do with Angle or any of the Radicalz, or some of the WCW guys who came in a year later.
Sensational Sherri in the modern women's division.

The Creeds in early 90s WCW could have some bangers with the Steiners.

I’ve said on here quite a few times that if Waltman had came up with the original class of ROH guys he’d have been looked at like one of the best ever guys of his size. Waltman walked so a lot of those dudes could run, as he was really the first “smaller” guy to get to the upper end of the card and be believable. I mean, I’m sure there are one off examples of guys who weren’t “big” that made good careers for themselves but Waltman was mega over, and was basically the measuring stick of if you were going to have a run in the WWF. If you could have a good match with him you were gonna stick.

I'd be insanely curious to see how a peak Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine would do in todays wrestling landscape.

Would love to see peak Bret in like WWE 2003 and have him go a good 1to to 15 years from there. See him mix it up with Angle, Eddie, and still see him with Taker and HBK. Stuff like him with Rey. By the end of the run Punk and Bryan.

Just so many in both directions:
Bret and Owen Hart being alive and healthy and able to still go until like 2006 would have been incredible. The number of guys they could've had matches with would have been unreal.
Khali, Big Show, or any other giant human being in the early to mid 80's would have been great as well. Their ultimate destiny would have been being slayed by Hogan but they would have fit in really well in that time. Or heck even before that as territory guys similar to Andre.
Sean Waltman in the early 2000's but also he's such a product of the 90's that it's hard to imagine him coming up any other time.
Scott Hall coming up today. Wrestling has gotten a lot smaller so a guy like him would have stood out even more, especially being able to go and with his charisma. Plus more guys are clean these days so maybe less demons to get in his way.

Wow, I had never even thought about if it was Bret's music that hit after Survivor Series 2001 instead of Flair's. The pop would have been astronomical. And then you have Bret vs Vince, Bret vs Angle, Bret vs Austin, Bret vs Rock, Jericho, RVD, and then later guys like Mysterio. I wholeheartedly believe that Bret being gone so long was really a lot of things, not just Montreal. It was Owen's death, it was his own health issues, it was the family in-fighting, HHH gaining more power etc. In a world where Owen lives and Bret has no health issues, then I think he's back by 2002.

My mind first goes to trying to think of who would benefit from today's much healthier wrestling industry.
I mean as healthy as hitting the ground for a living can be. At least there isn't coke everywhere now. Wellness policies, concussion protocols. And better, though far from perfect, mental health support.
Sadly I think that list is far too long to narrow down.

Doug Furnas and Dan Krofat in mid-00s ROH, having bangers of matches with the American Wolves, MCMG or the Briscoes.
