Nah man I'm not even trying this week how can I compete with "casual fans love The Butcher" I'm f***in' out of here I can't come up with shit funnier than that "Okada is a revered warrior, but even he is no match for the indestructible force that is The Butcher. His legion of followers will bring impending doom for The Rainmaker." Shhh you're jacking the whole bit I was gonna base next week's on as a way to cook the reminder in so it can go "ha ha yeah I remember that last week" don't blow this for me man

Listen I'm not gonna mince words. Unlike most of you, I strongly believe the casual fan exists and I'll never waiver on that. Having said that, I don't really know who The Butcher is. Despite thinking that he isn't all that well known outside of the internet, I do know who Okada is.

Tony Khan has spent 20 million per year on these 4 talents (Sasha,Osprey,Edge,Okada) and they haven't made any difference in the ratings.
I hope he doesn't get bored if his business continues to be in the red. If AEW goes bankrupt, it would be terrible for the wrestling business.

I’m not sure what they can do to get better ratings, so just keep putting shows together that people like and it’ll at least stay consistent more times than not.
I checked out for a bit during Rampage, but went back for the main event. 3 hours is a lot on a Wednesday (and Monday), so I took a breakski and it appears like a lot of others did too.

We're surrounded by so many different accessible artworks and I think today's youth is almost conditioned to like what they choose to like. My nephew was only very briefly into wrestling during the early '10s. His favourites were Dolph Ziggler (then a heel upper midcarder), Rey Mysterio and...Ted Dibiase JR. He's now a Billy Joel fan that knows more of his songs than his 20-year-older uncle. Maybe I just have a weird nephew.

We’ve had this conversation on this board so many times even in the couple of years that I’ve been here that I don’t want to hijack this thread with it, but I really think there’s a distinction between “casual wrestling fan” (i.e. a person who enjoys wrestling when they watch it, but doesn't consider it weekly appointment viewing and damn sure isn’t gonna spend their free time talking about it on the internet) and the “casual fan” as that term is always used by people ranting and raving about AEW not appealing to the “casual fan” (i.e. a person who has absolutely no prior interest in wrestling whatsoever, but may be inclined to tune in if they’re flipping through channels and see Butcher’s sweet mustache). I think the former exists, but the latter really doesn’t in this day and age of ubiquitously available on demand entertainment.

The Falcons spent 45 million per year on Kirk Cousins and he has brought them zero championships. Don't know how they're going to keep the team going with numbers like that.

The way to cater to the casual fans is to cater to me specifically. You can thank me when we dont have The UK anymore on TV.

Frankly, we have no idea what AEW’s books look like since it’s a private company. The only people who really care are Tony and his dad. Also TK is trying to get a big TV rights deal increase from WBD. And bringing in Okada, Ospreay, Mercedes, etc plays into that I suspect. The old idea of “ spend money to make money” and all that. If he gets that increase, then it wu all be worth it.

To go in a different direction.
Good lord at that ratings drop for Jericho/Hook. There is something up when it comes to Jericho. Fozzy might need to go on tour for a while.

I was gonna chalk it up to the double ad break as that usually hemorrhages viewers, but it has been a consistent pattern with Jericho matches and the other double ad break this week actually gained viewers. Jericho fatigue is very real.

If he gets that increase, then it wu all be worth it. Plus their business model so far hasn't been "go for ratings stunts or sign people" hoping they spike the ratings. They sign people like Osprey, Mone', Okada, etc to boost ticket sales and ppv numbers and to give the roster some top heavy depth in case a CM Punk incident occurs or someone gets hurt. I doubt they'll be hurting for money after events like All In and their rights deal goes through this year. Getting out of this thread now, these ratings threads give me hives. Only bother anymore to catch Mothman's bits (which you've been slacking on Marvez bits damn it, the Bucks have given you plenty of material by now).
