You know AEW's best asset for casual fans? Tony Schiavone.
He's one of the few that seem to truly take viewer perception of things into account and tries to cover for any stupidity and/or botches that might drive a casual fan away.
Daddy Magic seems to be learning from him too tbf, very keen to establish rules.

If there is one thing casual fans like, it's YouTube. Therefore, AEW needs to bring back Dark/Elevation immediately to lock down on millions of potential casual fans. There...did I do it? Did I add to the discourse? Not jokingly, at one point I wanted to make a thread asking if Dark helped keep interest in the product, I legit think it helped a little even if no one would watch it all Admittedly, losing Dark/Elevation did take away some of my hype for the shows. If anything, it felt like I was getting to see the lower card guys get reps (And also get a variety of commentary work for others. Mark Henry's attempt at being at the booth was interesting to hear, at the very least), establish themselves, and earn segments on the TV shows. It was where Julia Hart got in some rather sloppy work against people on a more limited scale (but she got to work with good indy women and also be fodder for people like Shida who could work longer matches with her) and her progress is incredibly exceptional and, if things were as they are now, she wouldn't be on the level she is now without the shows. Also, it was where Hobbs earned his spot in the company, which is awesome considering what a force he could (should) be in their future. Plus, daggone it if I don't miss Taz/Excaliber doing their best to make each other laugh. I don't know. I just like watching wrestling and it provided more wrestling and a way for their lower card talent to have more wins instead of just being Rampage/Collision fodder for the big names. All I'm saying is that Butcher would've squashed a tag team by himself while Blade stood on the outside on Elevation, beaten Matt Sydal on Dark, and then got squashed by Swerve and it wouldn't have felt like his name was pulled out of a hat.

Am I the only one who thinks this isn’t that complicated? AEW got hot in a period when WWE was down. WWE has gotten hotter. At the same time, AEW went through a combination of issues that hurt the product around the time of many big shows: injuries, suspensions, drama. This hurt the company in tangible ways as it often messed up creative. They’re now in a period where those things have stabilized and so has the business. They’re still one of the top 1-3 shows every Wednesday on cable, the PPV business is good, attendance has been better most weeks lately. They do not need analyzed to this degree. Mmh hmm. Though we can come up with things we’d like to watch or for AEW to try, those are the hard facts.

6 pages? Boy oh boy am I glad I don't give a shit about ratings and rarely pop in to these threads because shit seems exhausting lol AEW ratings threads are my favorite. The hyper focus on this comes from the two ends of the annoying spectrum when it comes to AEW: those that want to see it fail,Those who are prepared to valiantly defend it at all costs. It’s just noise. Like it’s just okay rn. Not in peril, but definitely don’t have the buzz they once did. I think a huge catalyst or point of interest that gets people people’ ing is “WHAT WILL MAKE AEW HOT AGAIN” which, they might, they might not. That’s the long game intrigue.

Tourney games started Thursday not Wednesday, at least I know my bracket had to be locked on Thursday. The First Four started on Wednesday and drew big numbers, you literally can't ignore that, the chart shows they dominated the top 10 that night. You are always trying to look for ways to deflect when it comes to ratings numbers and reasons AEW's number might be down, but that chart is literally on the same page you posted this lol I’m not “always looking for anything” so you can kindly quit the personal swipes, thanks. Obviously I responded before getting to the charts posted

I am sick and tired of hearing about "casual fans"". What about ceiling fans? What about Only Fans?

Big part of why I largely avoid this section lol, you see a thread with big numbers and you already know what’s happening and who’s doing it. IDK what the “casual fans” want but being more like WWE is the opposite of what made AEW hot to begin with. If it’s a niche product then let it be a niche product, WBD by all accounts seem happy with how they’re performing and that’s all that matters.

Yeah they definitely shouldn’t lean more into WWE-style tropes , I think that’s a large part of the reason that the Devil storyline fell flat to the hardcore AEW audience. Pulling certain elements from WWE is fine and should be done but you don’t want to become WWE-lite.

When it comes to AEW ratings threads, let's just remember what "Timeless" Toni Storm once said.
