I’ve seen some fans point out this match as an excuse to attack both guys, as if they’ve never put on a better performance and this was somehow their skill peak. Like, WTF? Have they not seen Miz and Cena’s other work? Or just because it’s not Ospreay level athleticism, it isn’t worth watching? Sheesh.

Using this match to prove either of these 2 can't wrestle is like using that Kota match from January where he broke both ankles to say he can't wrestle.

I do wonder if Cena and/or Rock apologized at all, knowing what we know now about Miz’s concussion.
Fortunately, Miz’s instincts were enough for him to keep his head up on the Rock Bottom and minimize contact, but those punches and slaps probably didn’t help.
As for the concussion itself, I blame Cena almost entirely, there was no real way for Miz to protect himself on that tackle over the barricade.
Cena was the leader in the match, he should have known better.
It’s hard to watch Miz take those moves after that in retrospect.

One of the sad things about this whole build is that Miz actually had moments of brilliance. He knew he was the third wheel despite being champion, he knew that he was being given scraps (see Lawler in a ladder match because everyone else who was important was busy with a tag match or tournament or something). With all that there were multiple times in that build where he pretty much forced eyes on him. As much as everyone craps on that reign, it was actually what turned me around on him. Before that I had no time for some dumbass reality star with a fauxhawk. He showed glimmers of brilliance and it's a shame that he never really got a chance to prove what he could do at that level again.

I think Miz is unbelievably average in every regard and doesn't belong in the main event but I don't blame him for this debacle.

But it kept going and then the Rock had to get his stuff in on top of it.

Watch it for the first time last night and literally forgot about it immediately until this thread cropped up. I was somewhat surprised to see how dominant Miz was made to look in the first half of the match, it really defies disbelief to see 2011 Miz picking apart LOLCENAWINS-era Cena.

Miz in 2016-2017 when he got Maryse as his manager should have been given that chance. Dude was firing on all cylinders in that run.

I sat through this debacle the night it happened. Someone would have to pay me cash money to waste more minutes of my life watching this for a second time.

This match isn't awful but it's incredibly average.
I still say that WrestleMania 27 isn't nearly as bad as most people make it out to be.

I just get so tired of people blaming Miz for it. It was not his fault at all. People blame Miz for it? I usually only hear people blame him in that he got concussed midway through and there was talk taht John gets a stinger from the whip into the corner early on too What also isn't Miz's fault was that in the lead up pre (and somewhat post) Rock, they tried turning the Miz into a bad asskicking heel and that isa role that did not fit him at all...

Making him a bit of an Eddie Guerrero type, a lovable cheater, seems to be the right move. Playing dirty has served him so well, even Bryan admitted during their feud that Miz’s way was effective.

Taker/HHH, Orton/Punk, Cody/Rey and Edge/Del Rio are enough to put it above 11 and maybe a couple others. There are some Manias that don't even have 3 or 4 good matches.
