I never understood the archaic approach of preventing staff getting over anyway. She’s your employee, she’s on your television show, it’s a *good* thing if she’s over FFS! This is why I don't get why people shit on Aubrey in AEW for the same thing Yeah the crowd loves her... why can't the crowd and people be excited for a referee? It doesn't mean they think less of the talent, they're literally MORE ENGAGED WITH THE SHOW. I was someone that thought she was a bit much at first, but then she was just part of the show and there is nothing wrong with it IMO. I never have felt that she is trying to be the center of attention over the guys/ladies in the ring, she is more or less part of the show.

She's good, maybe a tad over the top. I prefer TNA's announcer. Is it still Penzer or do they have someone new?

That's a seal of approval if there ever was one!

Yeah, I never got her appeal (as an announcer), and still don't. A lot of what she does feels performative and way too over the top and cartoonish. I feel the same way about Justin "JEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOONNNNNNN" Roberts as well. Samantha has a great voice so when she announces normally, and less over the top, it does sound good, so I can see the appeal there, but with stuff like Roman's entrance and "Let the War Games begin" and stuff like that, it can be a bit grating. (..) It's the exact opposite with Samantha and really all of the announcers nowadays. With Samatha it might be intentional as she has a camera on her and WWE has posted her reaction to things, so she clearly 1) gets engagement from fans, and 2) is either told to or encouraged to ham it up. Which is fine, it's not my cup of tea, but a lot of people enjoy that, so it is what it is. Yeah, same for me, pretty much. And yet, as I mentioned in the Night 2 rating thread, I love me a good Crazy Pride Lady announcing call... but there's something very hit or miss for me with Samantha's announcing : sometimes it's perfectly fine, and sometimes it just feels forced, and just unnecessarily over-the-top for the match announced. It might just be me not gelling anymore with WWE's overall more artificial, overproduced and performative vibe, though. I think that's what it is. WWE is very much a live action variety show. People pay money to sing Seth's theme, and Cody's theme, and Jey's theme, and so on. Samantha's over the top announcing is likely just part of the presentation that they want to put out there. The male announcer (don't know his name) has a similar cadence to Samantha's, obviously with a deeper voice. I don't notice him hamming it up as much as Samantha does, maybe he does, but it's likely intentional by both of them to be more performative than a typical standard ring announcer.

You know what, we’ve been so accustomed to ring announcers sounding the same when announcing entrances and winners but holy shit her shock when announcing Priest was cashing in and her being emotional announcing Cody as the new champion was so freakin awesome. I never knew we needed that but we did, it made both moments that much better.

I've been rewatching the finish to Cody vs. Roman II and Samantha's emotional announcement of new Undisputed Universal WWE Champion Cody Rhodes never fails to make me tear up.

I generally have little to nothing good to say about pro wrestling anymore.
She was awesome.

I'm a Justin Roberts guy myself I always felt he sounded like he was trying too hard. The way he held onto the first syllable of a name used to annoy me. Or "The.....RRRRRRRRROCK!"

Honestly she isn’t for me but if others enjoy her that’s a good thing. I do like the emotion she shows.
I’ve always like Justin Roberts.

At first I wasn't a fan of Samantha's but over time she won me over.

I'm incredibly jealous as someone who watches more AEW. Samantha is worlds better than Justin Roberts. Even got the Buffer shoutout. She's got the juice now.

Apparently nepo ref and guy most famous for beatboxing, Brian Hebner, was talking shit about Samantha and she gave him a proper dismissal.

She’s really good, she had a really good weekend and over time, could easily be (and I really hope she is) a worthy successor to The Fink.
But there’s still no contest. Finkel is the greatest.

It's weird they didn't realize with things like JAaaaaaaawn Cena and Rated R SOOOUUUUUPerstar that having more unique calls can help wrestlers get over until recently.

Hell, it was like a couple of months ago that she was told by Dunn to knock it off with the flourishes for a couple of weeks right before he left. chelsea greeeeeeeeeeen gives me energy the fact she seemingly tries to add a flair to everyone especially helps.

If nothing else, her call of "and the newwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Undisputed WWE Champion, the American Nightmare... Cooooooooody Rhoooooooooooooooooooodes!!!!!!!!!!" is something that'll be remembered forever.
