Bonus points if you know why the poll is limited to these five songs.
For me, Richard Marx wins it by a pretty large margin.

Was so close to voting for Super Bowl Shuffle, but it's Gloria.

I had to go with "Queen of Hearts". In the early-to-mid 2000's, when I was a young college graduate working stocking shelves at the local CVS, it was a regular on the music channel the store played and I became a fan of it.

Queen of Hearts is fun, but Gloria's fantastic.

Funny how two posts in the thread say Marx but there's only one vote for him.
Anways, "Gloria" then "Queen of Hearts".

Queen of Hearts is fun, but Gloria's fantastic. I vastly prefer her other hit, 1984’s “Self Control”.

I try not to vote in my own polls hence the 1 vote, but since you’ve posted it looks like 2 more have voted for Marx anyway. Marx is one of those artists that was much more successful than some people may realize. In the US he had three number 1 songs and over 10 top 20 hits between 1987 and 1994. He even almost cracked the top 40 again in 1997 with two different songs. “Hold On to the Nights” is great, but one of his other number ones is probably even more of a classic:

The Super Bowl Shuffle helped motivate a very mediocre Chicago Bears team to a Super Bowl title.

Is there another decade that has such a distinct sound? You can find elements of 60's pop and 70's disco in music today, but with the 80's, it's like everything just stayed in that decade (with a few exceptions).

Yeah, pretty much anything with synths or heavy sampling is building off the 80s when that stuff became mainstream for a start, the 80s has been in a revival period for like, 20 years now.
