These guys still get the highest social media views and have spent most of their time in AEW outside the actual main event scene.
Both are just floating around having exhibition matches against random people on the roster. Shouldn't they be feuding with guys like Swerve in the main events?
Yes, I like both these guys, but as a casual fan, I don't really have any interest in having them wrestle random guys week after week. It's just frustrating because AEW does have guys like Page and Swerve and AEW is missing a chance to get them more attention.
It kinda feels like some vets just treat AEW like a place where they can tick off matches from their bucket list at times.

Danielson is literally main eventing on Sunday and Copeland's main event a few weeks back against Christian was the most hyped Dynamite main event in months.

I’m sure Swerve/Joe is the actual main event with Swerves looming coronation. I do agree though, enough of Bryan’s wankfest retirement run. He needs to get in the mix, Cope’s champ so he just needs another solid feud to dig his teeth into.

I’m not sure what Ospreay/Danielson is if it isn’t a main event feud. It was the first match announced for Dynasty for a reason. Unless we’re only counting world title feuds as “main event” level which seems pointless because they can’t constantly be in the world title picture. These guys are seen as big deals and are being used to help raise others to that level. I’d say that is more than a fair use for them.

There's another former world champion that has performed at the highest level that should be in main events, Jeff Jarrett.
He was the first wrestler to perform in front of the largest ever aew crowd at Wembley.
He is still the Texas Chain Saw Massacre Death Match Champion. A match that made more money than any other and may continue to so when mentioned in negotiations with networks.
He whacked Hogan over the head with a guitar, who can't relate to that.
Was in one of Aew's best ever vignettes at Briscoes farm.
In an era of increased tribalism most fans of wwe, tna and aew can agree on what they think of Jeff Jarrett. He's permanently over.
Ain't he great?

Danielson, who is a wrestler whose work I almost always enjoy, and Copeland, who is a wrestler I'm agnostic about but I'd say trends positively for me, seem like obvious choices.
I'd much rather see a guy like Dustin Rhodes get a main event run. Hell, give him the world title.

Just my two cents, but I don’t mind seeing main event guys, especially vets all the way up and down the card. It’s actually one of my favorite things about MNW era WCW. The talent pool is so deep that there’s main event level guys in almost every match, or at the very least it’s possible to book the cards that way. I can hear the online feedback to this if it happened at this moment in time audibly, but I think before Dustin either hangs it up or goes back to WWE, he ought to get a run with the TNT title. I’m not one of the “you deserve it” guys, but he really does deserve it.

This is either Bait or you just haven't watched the shows and want to throw a Discourse Dart at the Board and see if it sticks
And again, people wonder why AEW board members are either testy or fed up lately lol

I assume OP meant in the main event title scene, and I can't say I disagree
I like main eventers holding midcard titles, but Bryan and Copeland do bring in more viewers and having one of them as the champ wouldn't hurt
Right now wouldn't make any sense, though, as that is clearly Swerve's belt at the moment

Danielson's role/trajectory seems pretty clear in terms of top of the card feuds: Ospreay is the next top guy and he has to go through Danielson, as the pretty much accepted Best Wrestler Alive, to get there. This, I'm assuming, is setting the table for the Continental Championship as the 1A belt - if/when Ospreay beats Danielson (and I wouldn't be surprised for them to go 2-out-3), it's putting Ospreay on the path to Okada (the other contender for Best Wrestler Alive). Danielson/Okada III is also there, and going through Danielson potentially puts Ospreay on a path with Mox and the IWGP title. All main event-level feuds, all set up to make Ospreay THE guy.
(I do agree, though, that Danielson should have been thanked for his generosity selflessness and then still would have booked him to win the AEW title at least once for the sake of the company and the title itself.)
Copeland will be a viable contender for the AEW title whenever he drops the TNT title just based on who he is, but I think he's in the best spot for him right now, which would be to put over one of Daniel Garcia, heel Trent, or Jack Perry, which would give a big boost for any of them. Garcia and Perry could do the most with it, probably. Copeland vs. heel Hangman also feels like a good, title-free, main-event level program somewhere down the line, too.
Putting the big belt on Dustin would feel too much like some weird attempt to reference Cody, but I'd be perfectly OK with Dustin getting a short TNT or International title run, or the ROH TV title as a way to thank and honor him and what will truly end up being one of the great wrestling careers of all time.
Jarrett, of course, can win all nine (FTW and Texas Chainsaw titles included) men's singles titles across AEW/ROH and become the Double J Crown Champion, that is fine.

Edge shouldn't be World Champ. And he defo shouldn't be losing to World Champ if that Champ is Joe. So what he's doing right now is fine.
