Some people just look right holding title belts and being able to carry themselves as the champion and you can already tell Swerve is in that category.

Absolutely well deserved, and much like Cody is the perfect face champion for WWE now, I think Swerve is the perfect face champion for AEW. He has that edge and swagger and willingness to cheat that somehow works together as an AEW top face. With him and Ospreay both getting super hot, the company is in great shape.

Something I very much appreciate about Swerve is his personal approach to wrestling which keeps him improving and evolving which he developed in LU and he always brings it up is that he is always looking for that niche , that spot that no one else is filling.
So I am very much interested in seeing especially now as champion what changes/evolves with his character now.
Very much proud of another of my LU children just killin.

Swerve said on One Nation Radio that he wants Shingo at Forbidden Door.

Great moment. I'm simultaneously excited yet also worried that Ospreay's taking it from him pretty soon.

I'm so happy to see this. Swerve's been on fire ever since THAT Hangman match last year. A great choice for Champion and as good of timing as you could want.
I almost feel as if "Isaiah Swerve Scott" was a decade ago at this point. We all saw how talented he was back then, sure, but he's proven himself without a shadow of a doubt in 2024.

Great moment. I'm simultaneously excited yet also worried that Ospreay's taking it from him pretty soon. If I were advising Tony Khan, I would tell him to book the following matches for ALL IN 2024 : Swerve Strickland vs Adam Cole for the World Title. Will Ospreay vs Okada for the Continental Title. Swerve vs Ospreay should be saved for ALL IN 2025.

I was one of the most vocal about how badly I thought Swerve was booked last week but this was much better this week. Given it seems Matthew and Nicholas were running things this week, I'd like to thank my EVPs for taking my feedback on board

Seeing so many people down on Christian being the first challenger. That's a bit surprising to me

I think like AJ Styles was for Cody, Christian is a really solid first PPV defense for Swerve in that you don't expect him to win, but can still deliver a great match with solid character work. Especially since Jack Perry does feel too soon.

That's a bit surprising to me It’s mostly “bUT I thOuGhT RAnkInGs maTtEReD” criticism coming from people who very obviously didn’t watch the show and see the EVPs specifically saying they were using their EVP powers to allow Christian to jump the line.

As someone who "gets" why it's Christian and is cautiously optimistic.....
You want Swerve to be a main guy? The biggest angle they have right now is The Executive Elite grabbing power and running the show. So, Swerve should be closely involved in that angle given he's the top champion of the show.
For me it isn't that a Christian feud would be bad. A lot of people even figured Christian would be his first feud as there's a story there. Sure, Christian can get heat but he's not directly involved in the top angle of the show.
I'm cool for this being his first feud Swerve can go through, but I hope this isn't a sign for Swerve's title run to be treated like Joe's where we're all waiting around until we hit the "real champion title run" when they figure Ospreay is ready or somesuch.

These two teaming up in the near future for at least 1 or 2 matches and then ultimately feuding for the belt around the end of the year would make for some damn fine television

I think the major criticism is more that Swerve is in a position where some feel he needs to have the best, most credible challengers to legitimize his run at the top since he is new to the main event scene.

If that were the prevailing criticism (the most common criticism I’ve seen is that Christian hasn’t “earned” the shot rankings wise since he just lost his title to Copeland, is 3-2 on the year, and hasn’t been seen in several weeks), then it wouldn’t make even a scintilla of sense to me, personally, considering that Christian is a well-established near 30-year veteran who, even in kayfabe, is an absolute menace who isn’t above cheating and has won 2/3rds of his matches in AEW.

I like that Swerve's still willing to get dirty if he has to, even as a face, so it should be fun seeing him and Christian try to outscumbag each other at least.

People are down on a program with Christian?
Dude has been creating great TV since he signed, there's history between Swerve and Wayne who's under Christian
I'm betting dollars to donuts this is going to be a fun ride
