“He destroyed all the goodwill” makes it sound like he killed a puppy or something and not made a snide remark in passing.

Lord, I hope not. I just managed to escape the Reddit cesspool. It’s bananas over there. I have unsubscribed to both Squared Circle & The NJPW sub in the last month....the r/AEWOfficial sub is the only wrestling sub I follow on my carefully curated Reddit feed... I've stopped reading Cageside Seats except for the rumors posts 6 days a week with my morning coffee because their bullshit finally got on my nerves enough to change my reading habits (their coded messaging clickbait trolly. article titles to drive engagement via toxic tribalism was the final straw)... this place is literally the last place on the internet I read, let alone engage with, when it comes to discussing wrestling....and in recent months the ooze of those toxic ass corners of the internet have started slithering in here. Which I very much don't like BUT at least our army of shitposters and GIF merchants mostly drown them out. I’ve been sort of posting on squaredcircle because, for reasons unbeknownst to me, I’ve been banned from FAN for the last two weeks (like, I genuinely have no idea why, I really don’t think I said anything out of line in the footagegate thread and I didn’t get a message), and for whatever reason anonymously talking about fake sports is one of my favorite hobbies, but man it’s gotten rough over there. I saw someone say, verbatim, “I can’t support a company who allows its figurehead to compare its competition to Harvey Weinstein.” Apparently supporting the company who allowed its figurehead to BE Harvey Weinstein for 30 years was perfectly cool, though. Anyway, Tony probably should have just taken this fleeting opportunity at national press to promote a pretty hot angle and not to evoke the name of Harvey Weinstein and get everyone talking about that instead, but it really wasn’t that big of a deal, and it definitely isn’t an extinction level event for AEW like the Reddit cesspool would have you believe.

I really don't get it. Was what he said stupid, maybe, I can see rolling your eyes at it. The reaction TK has gotten though makes it seem like he went "We're like Pepsi and they're a blood cult worshipping Ottis Toole and feasting on the innards of 9th trimester aborted fetuses" And literally the only people losing their mind about it are the usual suspects from certain corners of the IWC…the NFL Network still keeps playing kayfabe any time TK has been on camera during the draft. The net positive of the free PR AEW has gotten from the biggest f***ing sports league in North America the last 2 days…with one more day to come since the draft ain’t over yet…faaaaaaar outweighs negativity from some people on the internet.

Yeah like you could say it was a disaster if the NFL coverage of him stopped in the hours afterwards. But they’ve still been showing him and keeping kayfabe with it. NOTHING has happened as a result of it except people wringing their hands. The free press has continued.

Weinstein was probably on his mind because he was in the news yesterday (NYC conviction overturned, there will be a retrial) if the conversation had taken place a few days prior he'd have blurted out another name. Probably an inappropriate one too that gives the nuance of a sinister powerful man like Trump, Musk, or Putin.

I guess this means we're not getting the Shield reunion at WrestleMania XL.

I think the thing I'm angriest at Tony for is getting things to a place where I made posts in defense of Nick Khan everything feels gross about it

It was a stupid comment made by a guy who makes stupid comments.
Also what the f*** kind of left field comment is that anyway? AEW is Pepsi and WWE is Weinstein? Why not say AEW is Burger King and WWE is Bill Cosby? Or AEW is Target and WWE is Ric Flair? Oh wait he's employed by AEW so scratch that last one.

The neck brace thing at the draft was kind of funny. I not sure which famous neck brace in wrestling history he was going for. The Weinstein comment was a bit unsettling for me, not that he used that name but that he said WWE, and didn’t specify that it was Vince who is the utter creep of this whole thing. He needed to be more specific.

I don't like a Billionaire invoking a serial rapist on the day one of his convictions was overturned in order to promote his product. It's a serious issue that someone in his position shouldn't be using so lightly for profit.
Ironically it's similar to Pepsi being tone deaf when using black lives matter imagery to sell drinks.
It doesn't make what he says untrue, it's not an unforgivable sin but it is scuzzy.

Oh Tony, can't you go 5 seconds without humiliating yourself? I read that in Shad Khan's voice, even though I don't even know what he sounds like. Neither do I, but I bet money that if he were to speak he'd sound exactly like we think he does

Well, at least he wasn't going for Tesco Value and Jimmy Savile for the comparison.

Ok? but in the content of this big angle he’s trying to sell with the neck brace and all, what does this WWE/evil juggernaut/Weinstein remark have to do with any of that and how does it relate to this big angle? Him just randomly bringing it up for no reason really makes him come off jealous and petty towards this “evil juggernaut”

Don't think this comment was in service of any angle. Just talking about his company and their competition

Him just randomly bringing it up for no reason really makes him come off jealous and petty towards this “evil juggernaut” He was discussing what makes the company different during the interview he was having and why they stand out and why people should watch them, so it was not in conjuncture with the angle and not brought up at random. So, he made the competition look as terrible as possible while saying they have a ton of messy skeletons in their closet Again, not defending him, but there was a purpose to it. I wouldn't have done it, but I don't think it takes away from the angle at all, and I also don't think it made him look jealous or petty when he again, said nothing incorrect about WWE as a whole. Just would have been better placed somewhere else. But again, everyone was selling the angle before and after this and continuing to give it press, in the end this did nothing to deter that momentum and got a ton of overreaction online.

In a way Shahid's appearance was spot on on Wednesday. Sorta like "well he was always a f*** up, but I'm still somewhat concerned" kinda way.
