The Bucks did it because the audio sucked and they felt bad for the fans who couldn't hear a damn thing

Tony is to Shad what Bobby is to Hank ASSOCIATE: “You should go ahead and give Tony that start up money, he can do creative things with it.” SHAHID KHAH: “Tony’s a boy, he doesn’t need to be creative!”

You're welcome. Notable front row reactions: Between a white man and an Asian woman (both wearing white t-shirts) there are four people, probably attending as a group, who make the same shocked O shaped mouth reactions. White t-shirt woman puts her hands onto her face in horror but to her left a man claps while his partner gives a solid nod of approval to young Jack.

I don’t know man, I still can’t figure out why they aired that All In footage. What could it possibly be leading to? Because they wanted to show their new badass heel legitimately getting beaten up by a guy who doesn't work there? It makes as much sense as if WWF got ahold of video of Vader getting his ass kicked in his backstage fight with Orndorff in WCW and aired it on Raw a week before Vader debuted in WWF.

I thought it was badly executed because Tony is just not a TV character in any shape or form.
But I don’t want to complain too much because I think AEW needed a big sports entertainment story to really gain some steam.
So I will hold my criticism until I see how this plays out.

At this point I feel like the people who said Perry "Got his ass kicked" are just trying to bait, especially when they ignore the fact he got sucker punched and was put in a front choke for all of two seconds before the fight was broken up. Yeah he sure "Got his ass kicked", and even if he had, comparing Perry to Vader is an insane reach, he's not anywhere near Vader in style or presence, his whole thing is he's a sleazy slimeball, so I don't even get the comparison here It'd also make sense to dunk on him if he wasn't getting huge reactions everywhere he went and selling out his merch but y'know...

I don't exactly know what he did wrong or could have done better given all he did was hug a man and get destroyed. Like he did his job, he got laid out and got people talking big time about the angle He's not a TV character, yes, but that's what added to the shock value, no one ever thought this moment would happen period. I don't foresee him becoming a mainstay TV character after this either.

Yeah Tony's not good at talking live, he looks mad uncomfortable doing it so I was dreading the segment a bit and don't want him to become a regular on TV. But he didn't say a word. He shook the guys hand, hugged him raised his hand and then took two reasonable looking bumps (for a non wrestler). They couldn't have done it much better in terms of covering Tony's limitations. And you have to kind of write him off or do something to him whether he's a TV character or not if you're doing a hostile takeover type deal with The Elite, it doesn't really work if you've got them going around doing whatever they want with the guy who suspended Perry in the first place doing nothing about it.

Tony Khan really needs to sell it next time he shows up on TV. Someone needs to wheel him out in a wheelchair with a neck brace, casts, and a black eye. He'll sell it the same way Tony Schiavone sold getting super kicked by the Bucks backstage on Dynamite a few years ago. He'll be back the following week selling nothing. Like nothing even happened, with nothing more than a passing mention even referring to it before it's never mentioned again. Selling and continuity have never been AEW's strong points. Especially with anything involving the Young Bucks.

Even before and during the scuffle, you could tell Perry didn't want to fight back. Dude was pissed for sure but did the smart thing and let the hot head make an ass out of himself.

So a 60 something year old commentator shouldn't sell when 2 of your companies top stars kick him in the face?

At first, I was kind of like, oh man, Khan as an on-air character? Sound the alarm bells. There’s still part of me like that. However, if this is like the *one* time this happens and it’s to truly make this Elite stuff the focus of the company, I can see why they did it.
I’ve said before that some of the Bucks stuff isn’t for me but it’s clear that the majority of the actual audience that watches seems into it or at least open to it, so it’s hard for me to call it a bad idea.
If we’re sitting here in a few months and Tony/Shad are a regular week to week act, then I reserve the right to be like “nah this is trash,” but for now, they get the benefit of the doubt.
Also, Tony taking a mic shot like a Hadouken was hysterical.

Imagine if during the nfl draft tomorrow he goes one step further than the neck brace and the elite show up again to beat his ass on espn tv Okada beats the shit out of Roger Godell. Accidentally becomes the biggest face in sports.
