After last night's Dynamite I am having flashbacks to 1996. Anyone else feel the same way?

Great American Bash where they threw Bischoff off the stage. If you are right, then who will be the one to betray AEW?

Great American Bash where they threw Bischoff off the stage. “Quatro, Eddie! Quatro!” (this works with, oh…let’s say…Penta in the Rey role & Kingston in the Eddie role)

Nah, it was good to get Perry re-established with his new "Scapegoat" persona in AEW but I think it's a bit too soon to compare to that huge angle in WCW 96.
The intrigue with the two Outsiders/Interlopers was more intriguing to me because at the time most people thought it was a WWF invasion of WCW.

Great American Bash where they threw Bischoff off the stage. Yeah, felt more like that than Bash.

Maybe if the Bucks and Okada had been faces all this time. And Perry hadn't already returned at Dynasty.
But really, it's unfair to compare anything to that angle, because of all the new territory it was breaking.

Great American Bash where they threw Bischoff off the stage. If you are right, then who will be the one to betray AEW? Schiavone, and we either get Schiavone saying "I'm going to hell. STRAIGHT TO HELL!" as a Bash callback or, in an even more perfect world, Schiavone does something terrible to Tony and yells out: "Taz! I'm going straight to hell!" so Taz can say "I know, I sawr!" or "TAZ! MY BOSS!"/"I know, I sawr!" (Wrestling fates: please don't ever actually turn Schiavone heel, and in fact let him help destroy the Elite)

This is nothing like Bash at the Beach because there wasn't the shocking betrayal of a top career babyface. Perry was heel before All In and has continued to be heel since in both NJPW and AEW.
A lot more like Great American Bash, yeah.

I don’t mean that in a snarky way, I really was. So I don’t know why the wrestlecrap guys were so bothered by that line

Not everything AEW does has to be compared to WCW every time
Good or bad mind you.

Not everything AEW does has to be compared to WCW every time Good or bad mind you. I meant it as a compliment. Only 2 times in my wrestling fandom has something happened that filled me with both excitement and dread : Bash At The Beach 1996 and The Nexus attacking everyone on the June 7th 2010 edition of Raw. Last night gave me flashbacks to both events!

Last night gave me flashbacks to both events! Tony, Taz and Man In Mask laying out and letting everything happen from the moment Okada gave the double thumbs up all the way through the end of the show was not only perfection but def gave me some low key Nexus laying waste to everyone vibes. If AmDrag was at Daily’s last night I’m sure he had to fight his natural instinct to run out there and choke Justin Roberts….

My question is, who "ruins" everything by asking whose side Tony is on?

Not WCW. Progress. This angle gave me major Regression vibes, with Jack Perry playing the role of Jimmy Havoc.
