Not necessarily a wrestler appearing without a contract but rather times where one appeared on TV after their release date.
An example is a match I'm watching right now on an April 1995 compilation of WCW Worldwide, between Dustin Rhodes and Alex Wright vs The Blacktop Bully and Arn Anderson.
What makes this intriguing is this aired weeks after their Uncensored match, which Tony acknowledges on commentary. They even talk about the entire Parker/Rhodes angle that lead to this. Cagematch claims this occurred on February 5th, meaning it was taped 6 weeks before the Uncensored match and didn't air til nearly a month after that, which meant in Kayfabe, if you didn't know, you thought both Bully and Dustin were still part of WCW and this was yet another chapter to their feud.
The match ends in a DQ with Colonel Parker stopping a pin attempt by Wright. This was Dustin's last appearance in WCW until late-1999 and the last of Barry Darsow until 1997, although he didn't return to the Blacktop Bully gimmick again.
Any other occurances of this where a wrestler already released appeared on TV in a match?
I think another case was Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson were already gone from the WWF by the time their match with The Rockers aired on Saturday Night's Main Event, mostly because the match was taped in October.

Does appearing on TV for WWE when you're waiting out the 90-day period count? If so, Rhino did it in 2005, then Heath Slater did it in 2020.
Jackie Moore appeared in Booker T's corner on a episode of Worldwide that aired weeks after WCW let her go.

Jake Roberts was seen on Superstars post-WM8. As he recalled, the announcers talked about anything but him as such. (not totally true, they mention how he was destroyed by the Undertaker, of course)
Apparently the same thing happened to Missy Hyatt in WCW, according to her book. She was still seen during Nasty Boys matches, but supposedly no mention was made of her.
I'll be the one to say it...RICK RUDE, WWF, 1997 ;-)
Another Rude example...maybe cheating given the circumstances, but just as Rude was going to debut for WWF, the time JCP retroactively made an older non-title Rock 'n' Roll Express vs. Rude/Fernandez match into a title change?
Scott Hall was still shown being injured in the AWA for months on end, and announcers claiming he was still out of action...when in truth he moved to the CWF region.
Depending on timing between air dates and real life, maybe bald Adrian Adonis from 1987 fits?
I THINK ECW was still airing Heavenly Bodies matches by the time Pritchard went to the WWF to become Zip. Maybe Cactus Jack's last matches there were coinciding with the start of the Mankind vignettes?
Woman was appearing in WCW as she was wrapping up in ECW, wasn't she?
Not their shows per se, but for the longest time WCW's ads for Worldwide contained lots of dated footage. In 1998-99, you could still see Jeff Jarrett and Debra, and Chris Jericho (as a face no less)

Jimmy Yang appeared on Sunday Night Heat while not under WWE contract. He'd been visiting a show after being released to try and get tickets to a PPV to impress a girl, got called to the ring to demonstrate a spot with the Spirit Squad for Shawn and Vince, who had no idea he'd been fired, afterwards he got called to Raw and worked a match for Heat with Charlie Haas. The next week he was offered a contract and re-signed.

WWE made a whole storyline out of firing Drake Maverick while he was part of the interim Cruiserweight title tournament, then rehired him.
They later fired him again, then rehired him as a writer.

In early 2015 Samoa Joe was appearing on Impact, despite the fact he was released and was already doing a brief ROH run in route to NXT. Joe had already debuted in NXT by the time ROH aired Joe's last appearance on their weekly TV. I think he may have even been on TV for all 3 companies on the same week.
In early 2016 ROH TV aired some shows that were taped during a tour of Japan in late 2015. One of the matches was Gallows and Anderson vs someone. G&A had been on WWE TV for a few weeks already.
Ciampa appeared on Impact and NXT on the same night in 2015 or 2016.
Nidia's last appearance for WWE aired on Heat a day or two after it was announced she was released. I think the same thing happened to a couple of other people on that same episode.
Didn't this happen to Flair after he left WCW in 91? I remember a ticker going across the bottom of the screen announcing he was gone, but was he still appearing on the shows?

However, two years later, WCW did air a Vinnie Vegas match on Power Hour a week after Diesel had debuted in the WWF.

I didn't know he made another appearance after his WWF debut. I didn't get to watch Power Hour too often. It aired at 6:00 a.m. in California. Which was way too early to wake up on a Saturday morning lol.

Nash debuted as Diesel on June 6, 1993 at a house show, then appeared on a live Raw the next night. His last WCW TV matches aired on June 12, as he and Big Sky had a squash match on WCW Worldwide and a match with the Cole Twins on WCW Power Hour. It looks like his last TV appearance before that was in May on WCW Saturday Night the night before Slamboree.
