A meme rather than a trope, since I’m only aware of one sequel that actually used it:
[thing] 2: Electric Boogaloo

Origins and Revelation(s) are the two that are pretty tiresome.

The fact that there's three Halloween movies named just "Halloween," a sequel to Scream called just "Scream," and a prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing that is also called "The Thing" is a pain in the ass and I hate having to make the distinction between each of them. (But in fairness, at least one of those Halloween movies I mentioned is a remake, so that can be justified.)
Meanwhile, I can live with sequels having numbers in their titles. It's easier for me to narrow things down if I'm talking about them to people who may not be fans of that particular franchise or whatever and don't know which one is which by just name alone.

I don't think there's anything I hate more than direct sequels with the exact same title as the original because be it Halloween or God of War or whatever else it only serves to make discussing things a total pain in the ass.

I'm OK with a name like Scream 4. I don't like shit like SCRE4M

I loved how with a lot of games on Nintendo consoles, so many companies would just name their game sequels after what console they were on.
If it was on Super NES, it'd be Super (Game Name). If it was on Nintendo 64, it'd be (Game Name) 64. If it was on GBA, it'd be (Game Name) Advance If it was on DS, it'd be (Game Name) with a subtitle that spelled out "DS" as an acronym. If it was on 3DS, it'd be (Game Name) 3D. Though it was kinda clever for the Kingdom Hearts game to call itself Dream Drop Distance to fit the "3D" theme.

Sega developers briefly flirted with prefixing "Mega" for some of their 16-bit games that appeared on other consoles. I believe Mega Turrican and Mega Bomberman ultimately wound up being the only two that were released that way, but a reasonable number of others had the "Mega" prefix in development.

I wanted "Remix!" to pop in the early 00's for remakes.
