I say HELL NO!
What is with everyone on ESPN sucking up to him? Any baseball player who used steroids when it was not against the rules of baseball, are like blacklisted to hell. But Merriman uses a performance enhancer, that may be steroids, yet they're just like "He has these stats with 4 games missing!! MVP MVP MVP." It's BS in my eyes, Jason Taylor was completely right when he talked about he shouldn't even be considered for it because he cheated.
JASON TAYLOR FOR MVP YA'LL!
13.5 sacks, 60 tackles, 2 INTs for 2 touchdown, and 10 forced fumbles.
AS A DEFENSIVE END!
Merriman is 17 sacks, 62 tackles, 1 int for 0 touchdowns, and 6 forced fumbles
Just seems pretty clear to me, I'm not going to inflate Merriman's stats because he missed 4 games for a performance enhancer.

I don't like Jason Taylor, so I'm going to say yes. He should. He did his time.

I agree with Taylor on this one. He was caught with steroids. He shouldn't be honored this year. Even if he wins it, he should decline it.

But why? I need more than just, "I don't like Jason Taylor." You really dont. I said he huging did his time. That's the stupidest argument I've ever heard. All his stats up until he was caught should be negated if he was cheating. I too don't agree that he should be the defensive MVP. If this was Barry Bonds we were talking about everybody would be ready to hang him, but since it's the poster boy for the NFL's defense, we all choose to reward him and ignore his rule breaking. Merriman is a joke. Taylor for MVP.

Merriman has had accusations of steroids since his college ball, when he was said to be big on blood doping and put on over 20 pounds of lean muscle in a obscenely short ammount of time prior to the draft (we're talking about two weeks here). The guy is a cheater and he's very one dimensional in his game. Sure, he did his time, but he accumulated most of those stats when he was found to be breaking rules established by the league and apply to every player.
I don't particularly like Taylor, but his comments on Merriman are spot on. As noted above, if Bonds gets a major award, everyone would riot and cry without having anything but strong allegations against him. Meanwhile we have a guy who is a proven cheater and people are giving him the "ho-hum" treatment. I'm sure if Merriman's not on a team in the midst of a playoff run or if he had a bad relationship with the press like Bond, he'd be getting murdered. Instead, we brush it under the carpet and forget it quicker than the creative team at WWE do with cohesive storylines.

Exactly man, I don't see why everyone isn't all up on Merriman.
