That sounds awful, especially if they do the title vs. title thing. Especially since there was that other report the other day about how Rock was pushing to beat Roman then vacate the belt and christen himself the People's Champion in the process.

Hmm...I am surprised given I was convinced it'd be Roman that Rock would face. Assuming this is either accurate or, if it is accurate, than things don't change.

Maybe Roman just stays heel and actually does lead the way for Solo, Tama, Tonga and Jacob Fatu. It would be a much more badass Bloodline than his old cohorts, Jimmy, Jey and Sami.

Plans can change, Rock thought people would rather see Rock/Roman instead of Cody/Roman 2 and we saw how that ended up.
I'd rather see Rock/Roman just to get it over with.

So that means Cody's holding the title until then...

No one gives a shit about the “People’s” Championship, like who cares? It’s a trophy made for him.

So that means Cody's holding the title until then... He was always going to, you can't go from a 3-year plus reign to Cody's being only months. I doubt he loses at Mania if this stays the plan, but I see Backlash or Summerslam next year and then gradually they shrink from there. The World Heavyweight title will see more switches in between.

How about Rock as a heel authority figure makes Cody defend the title on both nights first against Roman and then Rock. Cody "overcomes the odds" and wins both but gets cashed in on by the MITB briefcase holder which can be Rollins, Logan Paul, Drew, Gunther, a turned heel Jey or Zayn, MJF (if they can somehow snag him), Punk (if healthy but too old IMO) or Solo basically whoever they want the Edge to Cody's Cena to be. Cody needs a long-term rival who is full-time, this can put a bow on the Anoa'i family feud and elevate that person.

Well, since that plan was obviously scrapped, what’s exactly the problem with this one? Is it because it requires Cody’s reign going past a year?

Well, since that plan was obviously scrapped, what’s exactly the problem with this one? Is it because it requires Cody’s reign going past a year? That, just personally having no desire whatsoever to see the Rock around, pretending the People's Championship means anything whatsoever, just the entire idea of this Bloodline storyline continuing to drag on for bare minimum two more years, the likelihood that Rock would win to facilitate the Roman match since that's obviously going to be seen by the company as the bigger deal, yet another case of a part timer taking the Mania main event over the people who are actually there working week to week.... I really can't think of a single part of this idea that I DO like.

You know someone's super gotta be unhappy with Rock's presence just given how that's phrased. "Rock's idea is [framing of the match with the name he clearly came up with that only he could care about]". Guy's really going to keep doing this huh

Guy's really going to keep doing this huh There's been a pretty obvious war going on in the wrestling press between the Rock's and Triple H's camps since January, and odds are it ain't stopping any time soon. Honestly, if you go by the build to WM 40 then this is the only match that makes sense, but geez, there'd be work to do to ensure that a year-long Cody reign actually works out for them and then you'd have to feel safe with Rock working a main event singles match at his current age and conditioning.

I'm not mad about this as a program it will make for tv. However I'm mad that this leaked now. This may make everything revolving Cody to be heatless filler until next mania season, even if the matches are good. Makes weekly tv very skippable imo.
