So in response to the worst characters replacement thread, I decided to do one for the opposite.
I think we can only start with this guy, Jefferson Darcy from Married With Children, and I liked Steve don't get me wrong, I liked the later seasons better and liked Al having a sidekick.
Another one it took them three seasons to get on show, but still Lisa and Bentley replacing Julie and Tommy on The Raccoons, they fit the show better.

Night Court did it with two different set of characters
Christine was better than Billie who was better than Liz Roz was better than Florence who was better than Selma

How can I forget Jo from Facts of Life, she replaced 4 characters (one of them played by the great Molly Ringwald) and improved the show.

Seven of Nine replacing Kes on Star Trek: Voyager, particularly when the writers and producers realised Jeri Ryan and Bob Picardo had incredible chemistry.

Winchester replacing Burns on M*A*S*H.
Burns was too comedic for what the series was becoming ever since Henry Blake's death. And with Winchester you had a rival that could still take some humiliations, but dish them out just as well.

Ooooh!
Angie gets replaced by Julie on Brittas Empire.
Cathy Gale for Emma Peel.
Rose for...Rose on Keeping Up Appearances. (Millar > Stelfox)
Joel Robinson for Mike Nelson, though call it a push cause I enjoyed both.
TVs Frank replacing Dr. Erhardt was a win. Pearl Forrester replacing Frank? Not so much, though SFC era Pearl replacing Clayton I eventually accepted.
Chuck Woolery for Pat Sajak sure worked out.
My aforementioned Tom Kennedy taking over Password Plus. He did a good job and didn't try to be Allen Ludden to do it.
EDIT: I personally disagree about what the show became, but can't deny the success it has had. So I nominate....the levelling up of hosts on the modern-day Family Feud (Anderson -> Karn -> O'Hurley -> Harvey)

Frank Coniff's "TV's Frank" taking over for Josh Weinstein's "Dr. Erhardt" from the start of season 2 on Mystery Science Theater 3000 (And by extension Kevin Murphy taking over the voice of Tom Servo from that latter actor)
Nothing against Josh per say, but Frank (and Kevin) were great additions to the cast and the the writers room and helped the show as a whole move forward from pretty good to all timer.

Wesley replacing Doyle in Angel sadly that one was more an enforced one due to Glenn Quinn's drug usage forcing him to be written out of the show. it did allow Wesley to become a better fleshed out character than "stuffy posh Englishman #15"

Seven of Nine replacing Kes on Star Trek: Voyager, particularly when the writers and producers realised Jeri Ryan and Bob Picardo had incredible chemistry. Jeri was a much better actress than Jennifer Lien and Seven was a far more interesting character than Kes. Also meant Neelix was a lot less creepy with her gone.

Wesley replacing Doyle in Angel The funny thing here is I really didn't like Doyle at first. Just didn't really care for the character. I think I finally turned the corner on him in the episode where he died. I was just starting to like him and he was dead.

Agreed, though I will admit that Wally's definitely got his prickish moments, looking back on some of the '80s Teen Titans run. Of course, I'll take that over Barry and his very boring nature.

Miles Morales. Dude blew up in a way most replacements in that genre simply don't.
Kamala Khan as Ms. Marvel. Same reason.
