I like him because his kayfabe last name is the same as Tatum Paxley's shoot last name.

This guy’s received some of the most baffling and anti-productive booking I’ve ever seen in all my years of wrestling viewership. If the plan is for the audience to feel sorry for him like he’s this lost child who doesn’t know his own power, it’s ineffective because this is an industry where fans might not want the stars to get legit hurt, but they still love violence and mayhem. The dude should just be a normal bully heel, why insert Ridge’s IRL guilt into kayfabe stories?

Sorry, I forgot Ridge vs Joaquin Wilde. My apologies if that was your favorite Ridge match! An enraged Joaquin wanted revenge on Ridge for trapping his friend, Del Cruz's, fingers in the door. It was the emotional apex of the storyline and you left it out.

I'd vote for "Making fans watch Ridge Holland matches" I think he's just meh as far as in the ring but the storyline being based off a major injury that may have ended a beloved man's career and also exploiting any mental issues that may have arisen for Ridge afterwards? Yeah, that's a major GO f*** YOURSELF thing for me. I actually liked him when he was a Brawling Brute, but I really do believe he's the worst character in wrestling right now.

Ridge vs. Lexis was a lost filler match from a ‘98 episode of Nitro and I was happy to see a revival of the genre.
That was our Scott Norton vs. Van Hammer.

It sucks because I WANT to give the guy a chance but he's been booked like utter ass that it's turned into, "I'm gonna go watch the STICKING OUT YOUR GYATT FOR NERIZZLER video on loop instead' because he has a shit gimmick and is in shit stories and even if he was GUNTHER-tier levels of talent in ring I'd be like NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE. That isn't really on him unless they've given him the option to tell them to shove that script up their own asses an he's refused. That's on whoever thought this shit was a good idea at ALL. It's an impossible gimmick and it's probably ruining the dude's mental health unless he was the one who came up with it and he's a sociopath if he did. f***, I forgot how they also had him fake retire by saying his mental health was failing and we had a whole day of people screaming at each other because he might have been for real and it wasn't real, dude didn't retire or even take a break at all. and if it is/was real, NXT is literally doing it to him!!! Yeah, between Ridge and Thea there's a lot of crappy, stereotypical portrayals of mental health and intellectual disability struggles. It's really rubbing me the wrong way.

I wish I could go back to when he was outside where I work waiting for Chris Hero to buy a sandwich or whatever the heck he bought in the end and tell him he has become sort of an Icon on this board. Not entirely for good reasons though.
And also tell him not to suplex Big E obviously.

I'll stop being silly for a second and just explain why a bunch of us actually hate this gimmick/character and why it's a bit different from Gallus who are just remarkably boring with some very unlikable people too. I think a lot of people don't watch NXT and are probably wondering what this guy's deal is since he's just the funny peaky blinders brutes guy on SmackDown a while back. As the poster above mentioned, this guy's gimmick is that he hurts people and may or may not know his own strength. He is the guy who accidentally injured Big E and led to Big E still being out, maybe forever. He goes down to NXT and starts doing the same thing to other wrestlers and the audience is supposed to be intrigued by if he's actually trying to paralyze people or if he's just that unlucky. People antagonize him and act like he is a dude who paralyzes people on purpose and they even had him do it to Ilja Dragunov at one point. His matches are complete ass to meh for some people but his "big" feud is him being told by a returning spooky Shawn Spears to "embrace the anger and the rage" or some goofy blah blah bullshit trying to say he should accept he's a dude who paralyzes people because he almost paralyzed someone for real, a beloved wrestler who still can't wrestle and probably never will again. NXT's choice after all of this is to have him interact with Chase U, a college campus type faction gimmick and they're not sure if they can trust him. Not sure if they can trust him because he paralyzes people. They all argue except for Ridge and Thea Hale, who is like 20 or something and acts like a complete child in storyline because reasons. Ridge in his infinite wisdom says shit like "you remind me so much of my daughter" and other wild ass things as she's really the only one who defends him from the rest of the guys who are like bro he paralyzes people. His entrance theme does the impossible, makes Imagine Dragons sound even worse. He just stares off into the distance as a man who might like to paralyze people for real or maybe not for real and gets zero reactions so the crowd just sits there like "yep linda, good popcorn this week, that's the guy who breaks people's necks for real, he sure is showing an interest in that one girl." I f***ing hate this guy. As if the above wasn't enough, the way he portrays the character has all these nuances that if meant to be sincere are bizarre and if meant to be menacing are flaccid. It might have had a chance if he cut a passionate promo where he's tearing up and you can hear the emotion in his voice about how he hates the stigma. Instead he sounds like one of my college classmates trying to remember lines for a short we came up with during a 24-hour film festival. He has dark clothes and mood lighting that make him come off as a heel. Combined with the robotic delivery he reminds me of a Terminator. I have NO idea what the f*** they're going for, who's responsible or any way to salvage it. I wasn't a big fan of him but he would've been far better being the guy that kept gear/music from the Brawling Brutes.
